Several commenters took to her comment section to remind her of her statements about bursting firecrackers on Diwali. For the unversed, on Diwali 2024, Sonakshi had taken to her Instagram story with a video of what the air looked like. She also penned a note addressing those bursting fireworks that read:
"This is what the air looks like. I want to ask all those people bursting crackers right now… are you all stupid or what????"
Sonakshi has since disabled her comment section on Instagram. But the debate found its way onto the social media platform, Reddit, too. Several users criticised the actress' hypocrisy, including one who wrote, "Because she is a hypocrite. It's funny how for these celebs, crackers cause pollution only during Diwali. New year me toh patakhon se oxygen release hoti hai." Another user commented, "Asli rona."
However, several netizens also came to Sonakshi Sinha's defence, pointing out some very valid facts. Some noted that Sonakshi wasn't bursting crackers herself but just watching them, while others noted that she was in Australia, a country with a much better AQI than India. One of Sonakshi's defenders penned, "The IQ level of this comment section is showing. After repeatedly pointing out that Sonakshi is in Australia, a place whose AQI India will never be able to achieve, it is being compared to bursting crackers during Diwali in India, a place which is becoming a gas chamber day by day. Sonakshi is not wrong guys. You are."
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal may not have burst any crackers, but their first Diwali after marriage was lit nonetheless. The actress donned a green and golden-hued salwar kameez for the occasion, while Zaheer looked dapper in a black kurta. She shared a couple of pictures showing their candid moments together. Sonakshi opted for minimalistic jewellery and basic makeup, kept her flowy tresses open and completed her look with a bindi. Sonakshi captioned the post as:
"Happy happy happy Diwali har ghar mei roshni, har ghar mei khushi aap sab ke liye hamari yahi dua hai.”
