Shatrughan Sinha didn't want his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha to leave their house after her wedding and wanted her to take his consent before dating a man.
Sonakshi Sinha is all set to marry her longtime boyfriend, Zaheer Iqbal, after dating him for seven years. As per their leaked wedding invite, Sonakshi and Zaheer will have a celebration of their union on June 23, 2024, at Bastian, Mumbai. When Shatrughan Sinha was probed about the news of Sonakshi's wedding, he mentioned having no idea about it. Meanwhile, an old interview of Sonakshi talking about her dad's concern about her wedding has surfaced online, wherein she highlighted the latter's conservative nature.
During their appearance on Simi Grewal’s show, India’s Most Desirable, in 2012, Sonakshi Sinha and her mother, Poonam Sinha, talked about actor-turned-politician, Shatrughan Sinha. In one of the segments, Simi mentioned that Shatrughan is a strict and conservative father, and Poonam agreed. The actor's wife shared that considering his background, Shatrughan is extremely conservative for his daughter. Poonam said:
“He is as conservative as any father can be, and I would say much more, because coming from the background he comes from, he is extra conservative about Sonakshi.”

Sonakshi Sinha added that every father is concerned for his daughter, and the same is true of her dad. She added that she has always been the apple of his eyes, and he has pampered her a lot. The actress also shared that her father wanted to build a house where she could bring her husband as he doesn't want her to leave the house. In Sonakshi's words:
“Every father is concerned when his daughter is concerned. I am the apple of his eyes, and he has pampered me so much. He wants to build a house for me where I bring my husband. He doesn't want to let me go away to my husband's house. He wants to bring my husband to our house."
In the same interview, Shatrughan Sinha opened up about his daughter's dating life and hinted that he would want the latter to take his permission on the man she dates. The Kaala Patthar actor said that he wants Sonakshi to date the right person and that too with his consent. The actor said:
"There is no harm in dating if you are dating the right person. I don't want her to go through the experiences I have gone through. If and when she dates, I am sure it will be in our knowledge, and I hope she does it with our consent, Sonakshi is the answer to my prayers."

The actor-turned-politician, Shatrughan further expressed his immense love for Sonakshi and said that they would like to have their son-in-law live with them. Talking about the same, the doting father said that he wanted his daughter to bring her husband to their home rather than her shifting to her in-laws' house. Shatrughan said:
"One day she would go to live with her in-laws, but given a chance and choice, we won't look for a son-in-law. We will look for another son for us, who is going to stay with us."
