Sonakshi Sinha Reveals Actresses Being Made To Reduce Their Pay In Films, Adds, 'Doesn't Feel Good'

Sonakshi Sinha comments upon the ongoing struggle for actresses in the film industry to dispel pay parity.

Sonakshi Sinha comments on why actresses’ success doesn’t convert to monetary gain

In a recent interaction with News18, Sonakshi Sinha opened up about the fact that how actresses in the film industry aren’t given an equivalent pay to their success, stardom and hard work. She retrospected on her own career and remarks how she feels bad that her efforts doesn’t get reciprocated despite the performance which she brings on the table each time. Adding how people tend to force actresses to reduce their fee, Sonakshi said:

“It's not easy and it doesn't feel right sometimes. When filmmakers approach you, they know that you bring something to the table. But when it comes to the money conversation, everybody just wants an actress, particularly, to reduce her fee."

Sonakshi opened up about how she has dealt with her box-office failures in the past

Moving on with the conversation, Sonakshi Sinha discussed the few misses she delivered at the box-office, among other semi-hits. The actress clarified how the ultimate success of a film is dynamic and as an actor, she has absolutely no control over it. Nonetheless, she feels that while her best performances have always been appreciated, it is intelligent enough to move forward with her work, and not think too much on just failures. In her words:

“But I also knew that the box office fate of a film isn't in my control. As an actor, you've to give it your best. My performances were always appreciated. That's how I moved forward and kept on doing the work that I wanted to. It's paying off now.”

Sonakshi Sinha revealed why she never did any intimate scenes in films

Previously, in an interview with the ETimes, Sonakshi Sinha revealed the one rule that she always tried to follow in her entire career till now. The diva expressed how she doesn’t feel comfortable doing intimate scenes on-screen, including kissing. Sonakshi clarified that on every project of hers, she makes it very clear to the filmmaker that she wouldn’t be a part of such scene, and if required, the filmmaker might chose to rope in other actresses for the same in place of her.

Sonakshi expressed whether she lost out on films due to her no-kissing policy

Continuing in the same interview, Sonakshi Sinha then confessed if she lost out on a lot of projects, just because she didn’t want to do intimate or bold scenes on the celluloid. Being her sassy self, the actress replied:

“A good actor will always get work. In my entire career, I don’t think I have lost out on anything that has had a kissing scene or an intimate scene. If you still want to go ahead with me, if you think as an actor, I would bring something new to the table, I will do the film. But lets find a way around that, lets work it out. Or you are very free to go to someone else who is comfortable doing that. So the option is always open and nobody is left out.”
