Sonali Bendre remarked how accidentally she became an actor. She also revealed certain difficulties she has faced in work, after her cancer treatment.
Sonali Bendre is currently grabbing a lot of headlines owing to her phenomenal performance in her latest release, The Broken News. The actress, who has been a part of the film industry for so many years now, has witnessed a lot of highs and lows, both in her professional and personal life. And recently, she talked about some of those.
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Sonali Bendre surprisingly mentioned that how she never inspired to become an actor in the first place. She called herself an accidental actor and added how she fell in love with the craft once she began to succeed in her career. In her words:
“I’m an accidental actor. I was never inspired to be an actor. It just happened to me and as I progressed, the journey continued, I fell in love with it.”

Moving further in the conversation, Sonali was asked to share the one hindrance she feels experiencing in her career at the current times. The diva remarked how off lately, she finds it difficult to memorize lines and scripts, as compared to what she could have done easily back in the 90s. She explained:
“I don’t know if it’s difficult…but lately when I started off, the memory was much better. I could read a whole page and remember it. Nowadays I need to take a little more time to memorize those lines. That could be the brain fog post chemo, aging or I don’t know what it is but that is happening, and this is kind of weird for me.”
In another of her interactions with Hauterrfly, Sonali Bendre recalled the perception of filmmakers back in the 90s. She remarked how everyone, including the audience preferred actors who were curvy and voluptuous, in place of those who were skinny. Adding how many filmmakers simply suggested her to fatten up, Sonali expressed:
“When I came in the industry, heroines didn’t used to be this skinny. Every producer was trying to fatten me up all the time. They would just tell me to eat eat eat bahut patli hai. They wanted curves. At that time, they wanted women who were curvaceous and voluptuous and who had curls in their hair. And I was straight black hair and I was skinny.”

Previously, in an interaction with News18 Showsha, Sonali Bendre discussed the strong prevalence of tabloid culture back in the 90s. She revealed how nearly all the time, she was linked-up with one or the other co-stars of her, and how, without any proof, gossipmongers would weave out scandalous articles about love affairs between celebs.
