Sonali Bendre opened up about the 23-inch scar on her body post her cancer surgery and how she was asked to walk after 24 hours of the operation.
The 90s era has given Bollywood some of the most stunning actresses, and one of them is Sonali Bendre. With poker-straight hair and an enchanting smile, Sonali had captivated millions of hearts. With movies like Diljale, Major Saab, Zakhm, Sarfarosh, Hum Saath Saath Hain and many more Sonali had become one of the most promising actresses in Bollywood.
It was on July 4, 2018, when her fans were heartbroken by the news of her cancer. The actress, who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer had announced the same and had documented every moment of her cancer journey. She had battled the disease and had come out victorious while inspiring millions.

Sonali Bedre often talks about her cancer journey and in a chat with Mashable India, Sonali revealed how she was left with a 23-inch scar post her cancer surgery. She also added that her doctors had asked her to start walking as soon as possible as they were concerned about her catching an infection. Revealing how she had struggled to walk within 24 hours of her surgery, Sonali said:
"Post surgery, my surgeon was like I want you walking in 24 hours. In 24 hours, I was holding my IV and walking in the corridor. It was hard because I had a cut which is 23-24 inches.”
In an interview with Vogue, Sonali had shared why she had decided to open up about her cancer. Sonali had revealed that she had earlier thought to hide it because it was a disease and had thought that all her brand was over. But when her oncologist had told her that she was at the fourth stage and had a 30 per cent chance, it had changed her view.

In the same interview, Sonali had talked about her scar and how she had embraced it. Sharing details about the same, the actress had stated:
"I have a more loving relationship with my body for what it has gone through. I started thanking it for what it was doing… how it was healing itself and taking me forward. I’m more comfortable with my body now and I don’t want to unnecessarily stress it or have unrealistic goals. I’m okay with some saggy, loose bits here, some cellulite there. I don’t find it ugly anymore. In fact, I find it beautiful and I don’t know when that shift happened."
