Sonam Kapoor broke the Internet with her gothic chic outfit at Paris Fashion Week 2024. Here are all the details about her stunning, all-black ensemble at the Dior show.
Ever since their appearance at Paris Fashion Week 2024, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Alia Bhatt have been the talk of the town. However, another Bollywood diva now has heads turning her way with a goth glam look that not everyone could pull off. She is none other than Sonam Kapoor, the ‘Global Fashion Icon’ herself. The Raanjhanaa actress made a grand appearance at the Dior show dressed in a black ensemble from their Cruise 2025 collection, and we can’t stop gushing over her look.
Sonam Kapoor commanded the room in an all-black creation from Christian Dior, the renowned French luxury fashion house. She donned a stunning maxi dress with a Mandarin collar, voluminous full-length sleeves, and a poofy skirt. As if the bubble hemline of the skirt wasn’t enough, Sonam decided to up the drama with a bodice corset that cinched her waist and accentuated her curves. To add a bit of contrast, the dress also featured gold button detailing.
Sonam Kapoor, known for being the first to jump on trends, gave fashion enthusiasts just what they were looking for, namely, layering. While she kept it simple with just one layer, the tailored black trench coat had detailing to die for. Its shoulders and back featured an intricate floral embroidery that livened up her outfit with vibrant hues and visual texture. Put all together, the outfit gave off the perfect balance of Parisian elegance, Bohemian chic, and gothic whimsy.
While Sonam’s outfit was undoubtedly dazzling, it was her unique approach to accessorising that really elevated her look. Instead of opting for the go-to stilettos, Sonam paired her glam ensemble with black combat boots that said biker chic. The knee-length boots were made of leather and featured chain detailing for an added dose of edginess.
For jewellery, Sonam adorned some intricate pieces from the collections of Amrapali Jewels and Tribe Amrapali. These included a pair of oxidised earrings topped off with statement silver ear cuffs featuring dangling details. However, what the internet can’t stop raving about is her unusual choice of septum nose piercings. One piercing had dangling details and the other featured tiny pearls. Another element of Sonam’s look that stood out was her pearl-encrusted fishnet veil.
Sonam opted for a subtle makeup look keeping things ‘very demure, very mindful’. Her base of bronze foundation was complemented by dark eyebrows, a touch of bronzer on her eyelids, contouring along the cheeks and jawline, and soft, rosy lips. Namrata Soni, the artist behind the look, spoke to Vogue India and revealed:
“So, it's a controlled look, which makes it very modern, but at the same time there is a touch of tradition.”
As the internet raves about her iconic fashion moment at Paris Fashion Week, Sonam Kapoor had some thoughts of her own that she wanted to share. She revealed how she felt about Dior and representing India as a fashion icon to The Indian Express, saying:
“Dior has consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity and elegance, and witnessing their vision come to life is always a privilege. This collection, with its intricate craftsmanship and unique celebration of heritage, was a true masterpiece. Every Dior show feels like a journey through art and fashion, and today’s event was no exception. I’m deeply honoured to wear Dior and represent India on such a prestigious global stage, where the blend of tradition and modernity truly resonates”.
