During the course of interaction, she revealed that Anand was trying to set her up for his best friend but fell in love with her himself. The Neerja actress was quoted as saying, "My friends were trying to set me up with Anand's best friend. That's how I met him. She had further added, “I went there quite irritated. When I reached there, I realised my friends had called these two-three boys whom I had no interest in meeting. I was like, 'I don't want to date anybody. I don't believe in marriage and all this nonsense'. I saw Anand and his friend. His friend was tall like me, liked reading like me and was a huge fan of Hindi movies. He was an educated and a nice guy." (Also Read: Esha Deol And Bharat Takhtani Celebrate 7th Anniversary, Radhya And Miraya Gift Something Special)

Sonam went on to share that the guy reminded her of brother Harshvardhan Kapoor and at the very instinct, she firmly decided not to date him. Sonam remarked, "Sometimes, people believe that when they have similar interests, they can be together. No one would think of Anand and me together because Anand is totally different. He had no idea that Anil Kapoor was my father. I ended up speaking to Anand the whole evening. Anand was trying to get me to talk to his friend...like being the middleman. But we ended up talking more."

She had further added, "I'm like a schoolteacher in matters like these. Don't mess with me so late in the night. And if the friend is interested then he should message me himself. Why are you messaging me? That's how the conversation started. We began talking on the phone. Then we met. Two weeks later, we were talking on the phone when I asked him, 'Do you still want me to talk to your friend?' He said, 'No, No! Not at all. Talk to me. I'm keeping you for myself.'"

Talking about her career, she revealed that people always think she is born with the silver spoon, but she has auditioned for every film she has done. The Delhi 6 actress said, “Initially, when I came in the industry, everyone said she’s born with a silver spoon, they alleged nepotism, etc. They didn’t know that I had auditioned for Saawariya (2007), I had auditioned for Delhi 6 (2009) and that I’ve auditioned for every film I’ve worked in. I just was able to have the initial meeting. That was it. When Delhi 6 was being made, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had Rang De Basanti behind him.” (Checkout: Shah Rukh Khan Shares The Best Advice For College Kids On Daughter, Suhana Khan's Graduation Day)

She had further added, “He was the biggest filmmaker that time. Every heroine wanted to do that film. But I was signed before Sawaariya released. I don’t even remember how many auditions I gave for the part. Even for Saawariya, I was auditioned with Ranbir Kapoor. Honestly, I got those films on my own merit. Then I Hate Luv Storys (2010) and Aisha (2010) happened. I can’t explain how difficult it was to make Aisha. Do you know how much effort it took to make Khoobsurat? No hero wanted to work with me because it was called Khoobsurat. I had to get Fawad Khan from Pakistan. And look what happened. Fawad became a huge star. He had the confidence.”

Sonam and Anand, you two were meant to be together. Wishing you both all the happiness in the world!
