Recently, Soni Razdan grabbed the limelight as she reacted to a viral post about nepotism. The veteran actress also schooled the netizens who counter-questioned her.
Nepotism in Bollywood is a long ongoing debate, and every other star kid has faced the wrath of it. Now, Alia Bhatt’s mother and veteran actress, Soni Razdan, has reacted to a viral post about nepotism. As she shared her take on the debatable topic, netizens reacted to the same and slammed her. However, Soni patiently replied to all the comments and even mentioned that Ananya Panday, Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor are talented actors.
Recently, Freddy Birdy shared a picture note on his IG handle, which has garnered a lot of attention. The post reads, “The people who moan on and on, on social media about nepotism are people whose parents had careers they would want to stay a million miles away from.” Reacting to his post, Soni Razdan penned a comment and asked if dentists' children don't face flak for becoming dentists and why star kids are hated for becoming actors. Her comment can be read as:
“Does a child have first right of refusal to a parent’s profession? Dentists children never seem to get any flack for becoming dentists … also I totally get the feeling. I was an outsider too trying to break in. Wisest words I ever heard were - the world doesn’t owe you a living. If you can’t deal with what it entails find another profession.”

Soon, a netizen reacted to Soni Razdan's comment and mentioned that dentists who aren’t decent will not get repeated customers. However, the user added that terrible nepo actors get repeated a lot more in films. Reacting to this, Soni mentioned that in the film industry, the audience decides which actor would get more movies. She wrote:
“It’s you who decide. No like… no see … it’s done and dusted. No more movies. (Unless daddy is funding your movie again and again that’s a different story and not at all about getting preferential casting ops) so it’s basically the same everywhere. You might get a foot in the door but that door has to have a very good reason to open.”
Meanwhile, a netizen reacted to Soni's comment comparing dentists to actors and wrote that one has to study hard and pass exams to become a dentist, but an actor doesn’t have to try hard. Soni then penned a long note and pointed out that even actors have to face countless rejections and nasty comments and undergo a lot of challenges while shooting. An excerpt of her comment can be read as:
“But what did I say earlier? If you can’t hack it, go somewhere else. You get the picture. Actors don’t have it easy. It’s never easy.”

In another comment, Soni Razdan shared that star kids have a lot of expectations riding on them and that there's terrifying pressure on them. She also pointed out that it's difficult for actors to see someone getting a role that they think they could have done better. Another netizen asked Soni Razdan if she believes Ananya Panday, Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and other nepo kids are talented. To this, Soni Razdan replied:
“I think they are all talented people! And so are many others. And thank god for OTT platforms now. So many more roles have opened up for so many more actors. In my youth it was just the films. Not even TV to start with. Can you imagine! Almost impossible to land a role.”
