Sophie Turner first time talked about embracing parenthood with her ex-husband, Joe Jonas, and how she wanted to terminate her first pregnancy.
It was in 2023, when actor-musician, Joe Jonas left everyone in shock by filing for divorce from his actress-wife, Sophie Turner. The ex-couple, who were married for four years, gave relationship goals to the world, and Sophie's special bond with her sisters-in-law, Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas, was loved by all. However, Sophie and Joe's separation was discussed across the world due to their ugly legal battle. It was believed that they parted ways due to irreconcilable differences. Now, for the first time, Sophie opened up about her marriage and subsequent divorce.
Sophie was just 24 when she found out about her pregnancy. Recently, in an interview with British Vogue, Sophie recalled that she was in Bali when she took the pregnancy test. Sophie revealed that she had thrown the pregnancy test at him and asked what they should do and whether he thought they should have the baby. She added that she wasn't sure of embracing motherhood in her early twenties. She was quoted as saying:
"Maybe because I was so young, I sat on it for a week. Thankfully there were therapists there to help me talk things through. I told my husband when I got back. I remember throwing the pregnancy test at him, saying ‘What do you think we should do? Do you think we should have it?’ When you’re in your early 20s, life is so frivolous. At that point, I really didn’t know if I wanted to be a mother, but something changed in me that day. I just knew I had to have her."
Sophie's elder daughter, Willa, was born in the summer of 2020 during the worldwide lockdown. She recalled that everything changed with the arrival of her daughter. Sophie added that it was a miracle to see her grow up. Two years later, Sophie and Joe welcomed their second daughter, as they travelled a lot and wanted a sibling for their elder daughter, Willa. Talking about the same, Sophie said:
"Because my ex and I travel so much, I wanted Willa to have a sibling. I wanted them to have each other. They’re so much fun, total girlie girls and absolute rays of sunshine in my life."
In the same interview, Sophie revealed that she was mom-shamed after her divorce from Joe. She revealed that during the shoot of her TV series, Joan, reports of her not being a good mother made rounds on the internet. She added that her kids were in the US, and she was left with a lot of 'mom guilt'. However, she got back through the tough times.
