Whether it is a birth of a baby or a wedding, we make sure to celebrate it with utmost oomph. One of the most popular customs, which holds a lot of importance in a girl's life, comes from South India. Yes, we are talking about the Half-Saree function!

For the unversed, the half-saree ritual is a saree ceremony. It is a celebration that marks the beginning of a young girl into adulthood. It is widely celebrated in the Southern part of India. It is also considered a milestone in a girl's life. It is also called a saree ceremony as a girl wears the saree for the first time, and it is not less than a wedding.

Know all about Half-Saree Function

The ceremony is celebrated with the blessings of relatives and close friends. It is said that the girl for whom the function is organised wears a half-saree. The traditional ensemble is called Langa Voni or half-saree. It comprises of a flared skirt, blouse and a dupatta that is draped as a saree. The girl's close relatives attend the ceremony and gift her half-saree, which she wears in the other half of her ceremony.

For the ceremony, the young girl decks up in a pretty half-saree. She even gets her hair and makeup for the ritual. However, the best part is the traditional jewellery which she dons to complete her look for the ritual. The function also includes puja, a traditional food buffet, photoshoots, and DJ that makes it look like a grand festivity.

We stumbled upon a beautiful half-saree function of Neha Patlolla's daughter. For the ceremony, the mother and her daughter twinned in gorgeous Sabyasachi Mukherjee's ensembles. While the mother looked stunning in a purple-hued saree, her daughter donned a green-coloured with golden motifs on it.

For the ceremony, the young girl looked stunning in a green-hued saree from Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She accentuated her look with a traditional diamond and emerald choker, a satlada haar, jhumkis, a maangteeka. She styled her hair in a braid at the back with flower adornements.

Another young girl, Teerdha picked a gorgeous mint-blue coloured ensemble from the ace designer, Manish Malhotra for her half-saree ceremony. Her outfit featured a lehenga skirt with sequined work, a choli with a tasselled hem and tasselled sleeves, and a dupatta.

The young girl's look for her half-saree ceremony was completed with a diamond neckpiece, matching earrings, and a maang teeka. Subtle makeup and glossy lips finished off her look.

We had also stumbled upon a young girl, who donned a beautiful pastel pink Kanjeevaram saree. However, it was her entry to the venue that left us in awe. She was being carried in a pali, along with her doll, who was seen twinning with her.
