It’s not been long since that unfortunate Sunday morning when the world woke up to the news of the passing away of a legend. Almost all the B-town stars mourned the demise of Sridevi. More so, because her passing away was unfortunate and unexpected. (Recommended Read: Sridevi In A Throwback Interview: It Would Give Me A Greater Joy To See Janhvi Married)
Needless to say Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor and both her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi were grief-stricken at the loss. But, the way they handled the situation with support of the Kapoor family and is trying to move on with their respective lives is inspiring.
However, a few days back a throwback video resurfaced all over social media where the late Sridevi is seen pulling her daughter’s leg at a press conference for her poor Hindi accent. When Janhvi was asked about when she would make her Bollywood debut, she replied in an English-accented tone, “Mujhe pata nahin hai, main abhi school mein padhai kar rahi hoon.” Before she even finished, Sridevi snatched the mike from her and jokingly asked the media to not let her speak in Hindi and that Janhvi is bullied by her mother at home as well for her accent! Check out the video here:
‘How cute!’ are the two words which came out of our mouth, isn’t it?
Sridevi shared a beautiful bond with both her daughters. On her birthday in March, Janhvi took to her Instagram handle and posted a picture where she wrote a heart-wrenching note for her mother. She captioned the note as, “On my birthday, the only thing I ask of all of you is that you love your parents. Cherish them and devote yourself to making them feel that love. They have made you. And I ask that you remember my mother fondly, pray for her soul to rest in peace. Let the love and adulation you’ll showered on her continue and please know that the biggest part of my mother was the love she shared with papa. And their love is immortal because there was nothing like it in the whole world. Nothing as joyful and pure and no two people as devoted to one another as they were. Please respect that because it hurts to think anyone would ever try to tarnish it.”
She further wrote, “Preserving the sanctity of what they had would mean the world not only to my mother but also to a man who’s entire being revolved around her, and her two children who are all that remains of their love. Me and Khushi have lost our mother but papa has lost his “Jaan”. She was so much more than just an actor or a mother or a wife. She was the ultimate and the best in all these roles. It mattered a great deal to her to give love and to get love. For people to be good and gracious and kind. She didn’t understand frustration or malice or jealousy. So let’s be that. Let’s be full of only good and give only love. That would make her happy, to know that even in death, she gave you all something. The courage and inspiration to fill yourselves with nothing but love and rid yourselves of bitterness in any way and form. That’s what she stood for. Dignity, strength and innocence. Thank you for the love and support everyone has shown us in the past couple of days. It’s given us hope and strength and we can’t thank you all enough”.
The late Sridevi was conferred with the prestigious National Films Award in the Best Actor (Female) category for her role and performance in MOM, last month. Boney, Janhvi and Khushi were overjoyed at this achievement and issued a joint statement expressing their happiness. They shared, “We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in MOM. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a super actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. It’s time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on.”
On the work front, the latest buzz has it that Boney Kapoor is planning to make a feature film or a documentary based on Sridevi's life. Meanwhile, Janhvi is all geared-up for her upcoming movie, Dhadak where she is paired opposite Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother, Ishaan Khatter. The movie is slated for a July 20, 2018 release.
