For the uninitiated, Sridevi was a stupendous painter. She was so good at painting that many of her paintings were in the process of being auctioned at Dubai, sometime later this year. However, one such painting of Sridevi still finds itself a prominent place at Boney Kapoor’s office. It is reportedly one of the ‘most prized possessions’ of the Kapoors. And one such ardent fan of Sridevi has her images plastered all over her car. We are talking about a Pune based photographer, Tonu Sojatia, who’s fan frenzy for Sridevi made her car splashed with images of Sridevi. Super-happy about the meet, an ecstatic Tonu had shared, “I am yearning to meet and showcase our Sridevi tribute to Mr Boney and his family. I have requested him to give me some time soon. Ideally, I would like to visit Mumbai this Sunday.” And so did she! Also, it was only when Tonu shared the image on her Insta handle, did we get to know how much she is missed and that her hand-painted canvas finds itself a permanent position at Boney’s office. She captioned the picture as, " Painting behind us is painted by #Sridevi ji herself ... Truely an outstanding, Multi-talented women.#sridevilivesforever." However, did you know one of the most impressive works by Sridevi was a portrait of Sonam Kapoor that she made before the release of Saawariyan in 2009. She had decided to put up the painting for auction. It was reported that the starting price for the painting would be a whopping Rs 10 lakh.

Confirming the same, a source close to the Kapoors had informed Mid-Day on January 2018, “Sridevi has been painting for many years. It’s her favourite pastime. In 2010, an international art house approached her to auction her work. But she didn’t agree. Since the event in Dubai is for a noble cause, it drew her. Sonam has a massive fan following in Dubai and her popularity has grown in the Middle East after her Project Runway outing with Ellie Saab. The bidders are hoping that the painting will sell at a high price”.

Sridevi also drew a portrait of the late Michael Jackson whose bid she had hoped to begin from Rs 8 lakh. The source further confirmed at the same time, “That’s her personal favourite. The bid on it will start at Rs 8 lakh.”

Not just Sonam, Sridevi used to paint pictures of her dear daughters, Janhvi and Khushi as well. A source had confirmed this to Mumbai Mirror sometime in November 2017 and shared, “Apart from Sonam’s portrait, Sri has painted several other family members too, but she does not like sharing the images of her paintings. Her passion is extremely personal to her. She began painting at a very young age and despite the insistence of several friends and family members, she has not agreed to host an exhibition of her work till date”.

It is sad to note that the exhibition couldn't see the light of the day due to a sad end. Looking at the pictures, we can't help but grieve at the loss of a great artist. She was truly a 'one-in-all'.
