Subhash Ghai On RK Wedding's Best Food And Drinks, Recalls Playing 'Dholak' At Rishi-Neetu's Wedding

Late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor are one of the evergreen on-screen and off-screen couples in Bollywood. From wooing the audience with his charm and words like Main Shayar Toh Nahi to continuing to be a superstar till his last days with a smile on his face, late Rishi was indeed a heartthrob. After his chartbuster movie, Bobby, he had become an overnight sensation. Ladies would go gaga over him and would write love letters to him. However, the romantic hero had fallen head over heels in love with the gorgeous actress, Neetu Kapoor and had tied the knot in 1980.

Recently, ahead of the couple's son, Ranbir Kapoor's wedding, filmmaker, Subhash Ghai took a trip down memory lane and recalled some memories from Rishi-Neetu's marriage. For the unversed, late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor are proud parents to Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor. And reportedly, Ranbir will tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Alia Bhatt, on April 14, 2022. The mehendi function took place at Vastu, Ranbir Kapoor's home.

In an interview with The Times Of India, filmmaker, Subhash Ghai recalled the big day when the late actor, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor had got married in a simple wedding at the RK house. He revealed that Rishi's father and actor, Raj Kapoor, was overjoyed on the D-day. Further giving more insights about 'RK Weddings', Subhash shared that RK Weddings have the best food, drinks and music. Calling Raj sahab a very affectionate person, Subhash reminisced about playing dholak at Rishi-Neetu's wedding. In his words:

"Chintu (Rishi) and Neetu got married in 'RK' style. RK style wedding was a big affair with warmth, affection and love for everyone. Raj Kapoor Sahab used to treat the film industry as a family. Rishi and Neetu have been my favourite couple and part of our family. The Kapoors are very warm people. They are the people who are above the mathematics of the film business. The whole family including Raj Sahab's wife was very affectionate towards us. RK weddings have the best food, drinks and music, and everyone participates. Raj Sahab was very happy when I played the dholak at Rishi and Neetu's wedding."

Earlier, in an interview with Rediff.com, Neetu Kapoor had shared an unknown incident from her grand wedding. Neetu had shared that she had fainted, and so did her husband, Rishi Kapoor. Revealing the reason, she had mentioned:

"I fainted at my wedding and so did my husband (Rishi Kapoor). My lehenga was too heavy. Plus, there were too many people. It was too much for me to handle. My husband fainted because he couldn't take the crowd. He fainted just before he was to climb on the ghodi."

Rishi and Neetu's wedding festivities went on for 20 days. In the same interview, Neetu had mentioned one more funny incident which will leave you in splits. She had shared that there were many strangers at their wedding, and the security guards had thought they were guests. However, later the couple had found stones inside the gift boxes. Neetu could be quoted as saying:

"There were so many gatecrashers at the reception. They were dressed well and were carrying packed gift boxes. The security men let them in thinking they were guests. Later, we found stones in the gift boxes."

For those who don't know, actor, Rishi Kapoor had lost his life to cancer and had left for his heavenly abode on April 30, 2020.
