Sudha Murthy On People's Shocking Reaction To Know She Is The Mother-In-Law Of UK's Prime Minister

In the latest episode of 'The Kapil Sharma Show', Sudha Murthy revealed why people don't believe she is UK's Prime Minister's mother-in-law.

The woman behind the success of N.R. Narayanan Murthy, chairman of Infosys, Sudha Murthy doesn’t need an introduction. Sudha is a very popular name in the world of literature as she is one of the most loved fictional writers in English and Kannada literature. She was the first female engineer in the TATA group.

Sudha Murthy revealed no one believes she is Prime Minster’s mother-in-law

Sudha Murthy recently appeared in the popular comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show, where she talked about the various aspects of her life. During one of the segments, the popular writer, who is also UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak’s mother-in-law revealed an interesting story. She revealed how once an immigration officer thought she was joking when she wrote '10 Downing Street' as her residential address since it was the Prime Minister’s address. Recalling the same, she said:

“Once when I had gone, they asked me my residential address. ‘Where are you staying in London?’ My elder sister was with me and I thought should I write ’10 Downing Street’. My son also lives there (in UK), but I didn’t remember his complete address. But I finally wrote 10 Downing Street. That fellow (the immigration officer) looked at me and said, ‘Are you joking?!”

She also revealed that she told the gentleman that she was not joking or lying. Revealing how people find it hard to believe that a 72-year-old simple lady can be the Prime Minister’s mother-in-law, Sudha shared:

“I told him ‘nahi, sachchi bolti hu’ (No, I am telling you the truth). He thought I was joking. No one believes that I, a 72-year-old, simple lady, can be the mother-in-law of the Prime Minister.”

It was in 2009 when Rishi Sunak got married to Akshata Murthy, daughter of Indian multi-billionaire and the Founder of Infosys, N.R. Narayana Murthy. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Krishna Sunak and Anoushka Sunak.

When Sudha Murthy wrote a postcard to JRD Tata asking for equal opportunity

Coming from a middle-class family and being a daughter of a doctor, Sudha always believed in helping others. For her, wealth was education and books. When once she came across a job opportunity which was posted by the Tata group, where it was mentioned that ‘Ladies students need not apply’. She immediately wrote a postcard to JRD Tata.
