In a recent interview, Sumbul Touqueer Khan talked about the tough situation in the early days of her career, which was created by mean comments about her skin tone.
Sumbul Touqueer Khan is one of the most famous television actresses. The diva rose to fame with her stint in the show, Imlie and Bigg Boss 16. Apart from that, Sumbul was also seen in several other shows, such as Waaris, Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein, Chandragupta Maurya, and Jodha Akbar Mehtab. Sumbul undoubtedly enjoys a massive fanbase, and her fans never skip a chance to shower love upon the actress. However, it often happens that actors and actresses have to face certain mean comments, and Sumbul is no exception. However, in a recent interview, the diva opened up about the same.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sumbul Touqueer Khan was asked about a certain situation in her career that she considers to be a roadblock. To this, the actress revealed that her roadblocks were different as no one ever stopped her from what she wanted to do physically, but mentally, she felt somewhere she was stopped. Sharing more details about the same, Sumbul recalled that at the beginning of her career, she had to listen to the comments regarding her skin tone, which used to affect her mentally. Talking more about the same, Sumbul stated:
"Mere saath toh bohot alag tarah ke roadblocks the, ayesa nahi ki kisine roka mereko, but somewhere mentally, bohot zyada the because ye hota tha pehle."

Further in the interview, Sumbul Touqueer Khan mentioned that soon after she got her first show, things started changing. But these blocks that she faced mentally were one of the biggest issues of her life. Revealing more about the same, Sumbul stated:
"Thoda sa skin color leke pehle starting mein bohot huya, toh aapko shayad utna zyada affect na karey raste mein, but aapko mentally bohot zyada affect karta hain wo ki koi aapko skin color ke liye bolte hain ki you are not looking nice or anything, toh wo cheezein mujhe bohot zyada lagti thi, but dheere dheere karke when i got my pehle wala show, waha se sari cheezein khatam ho gayi. So, that was one of the biggest problems I faced in my life, in my career, till now. So, I think abhi toh mein uske agey nikal gayi hu, kaafi.”
Well, this is not the first time that Sumbul opened up about this incident that she faced during the early days of her career. Speaking about Imlie, once Sumbul, in an interview with Etimes, revealed that at the beginning, when she was offered to play the lead role in the show, she immediately rejected it. Sharing more details about the same, Sumbul stated that when she first came to Mumbai to make her career, almost everyone rejected her due to her dark complexion, which later caused her to go through a lack of confidence in acting.
That’s why she rejected Imlie without even trying, as by that time, the diva was convinced enough that she wasn’t made for lead roles because of her skin complexion. Further in the same interview, Sumbul shared that things had changed for her overnight as soon as she stunned everyone with her acting chops in Imlie. Sumbul also added that even after the massive success of her show, she saw some people questioning the show's makers' decision because, as per them, Sumbul didn't fit in the role due to her complexion.

Talking about Sumbul Touqueer Khan's personal life, the diva's papa, Touqeer Hassan Khan, recently got married. For the unversed, Sumbul Touqeer Khan's parents got divorced when she was only six years old, and since then, the doting father has raised his two daughters. However, soon after her papa got married, Sumbul has been living the best days of her life with her new family members.
