Sunanda Sharma is one of the most prominent voices in the Punjabi music industry. However, despite her skills and hard work, she allegedly fell victim to harassment by her producer. According to the singer, the Punjabi music producer, Pinky Dhaliwal exploited her by withholding payments for her songs and was arrested for the same on March 8, 2025.
Pinky Dhaliwal was arrested on March 8, 2025, and now, Sunanda Sharma has opened up about why she made the allegations against her producer. The singer shared an emotional post on her Instagram handle on March 10, 2025. In the note, she shared her case for every middle-class artist who fell victim to crocodiles like Pinky Dhaliwal. She stated:
"This issue isn’t just about money; it is about the mental harassment I went through. This is about every artiste who comes from a middle-class family with dreams of building a career, only to fall into the trap of crocodiles. They make us work hard and build our own homes with our income. They treat us like beggars. Oh Waheguru, your people think of themselves as greater than you."
Sunanda further revealed how the mental harassment led to her crying in her room for days. She added that she even thought about ending her life at times. However, she still managed to fight for herself and has now urged all artists who have ever been victims of such exploitation to come forward. She stated:
"They mentally harassed me. I would cry alone in my room for days and sometimes even thought of ending my life. But I still managed to keep a smile on my face. I understood that if I cried in front of people, I would be trapped by another crocodile."
Sunanda also thanked the government for its help in securing her rightful earnings. She stressed how they had not only helped her but also given hope to the voices of all those women who could never fight for their rights. She concluded by thanking the Punjab media for their support.

The singer has claimed that the producer caused her significant financial loss, mental trauma, and reputational damage. She further revealed that Pinky pressured her to perform without compensation and also severely impacted her financial stability by withholding her payment despite her earnings exceeding Rs. 250 crores. She also stated that the producer threatened to ruin her career and tarnish her industry reputation whenever she demanded payment. She added:
"Through my earnings, the accused has built considerable personal wealth solely by exploiting me financially. His sudden and unexplained accumulation of wealth is a direct result of his illegal actions, including the misappropriation of my earnings, unauthorised collection of performance fees, and manipulation of my financial rights."
