Famous comedian, Sunil Pal critiqued Sunil Grover's jokes and cross-dressing in 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' and called his comedy 'cheap and vulgar.'
The Great Indian Kapil Show has garnered a lot of attention ever since its debut episode on Netflix for many reasons. The show premiered on March 30, 2024, and ever since, it has been in the news for one reason or another. Firstly, Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma reunited after six years, and on top of that, the show is now on Netflix and is available in more than 190 countries. Some reports have suggested that the show might soon go offline due to low viewership, but no official confirmation has been made.
Sunil Pal, another big name in the Indian comedy industry, recently slammed the show and especially Sunil Grover for his conduct and style of comedy. He added that Sunil Grover is doing the same old comedy with no newness is brought by him on screen, which is boring and disappointing. Sunil Pal further critiqued Grover for sitting on every male guest's lap and portraying women as desperate. In his words:
“Sunil Grover bahut purana lag raha hai. Wahi cheezein, ghisi piti cheezein… hasi nahi aati. Baar baar actor ke goud mein jaake baith jaana ladki banke, ghin aati hai! Phir woh ladkiyon ke naam pe kapde pehenke vulgar baate karna, aur phir baar baar award functions mein jaake bolna, ‘Aaj mujhe pata chala santre khaye bhi jaate hain’. Sunil Grover, ab woh jitna hain accha kare, logon ko gyaan na baate.”

Sunil Pal even called out Sunil Grover's cross dresses in the show as, 'Cheapness dikhti hain'. Further on, he critiqued Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and others for dressing up as women, calling their performance flat with no energy and calling their jokes stale. Sunil Pal further added:
“Aadmi aurat ka getup karke aa rahe hain, dafli wafli bol ke. Vulgar bhi lag raha hai sur saath saath usme energy bhi nahi hain. Aisa lag raha hai parso ki biriyani khilayi jaa rahi hai… Cheapness dikhti hain. Ladkiyon ki aisi respect hoti hai kya.”
According to a recent report by News18, Kapil Sharma's per-episode fee is a staggering Rs. 5 crore. However, another report by DNA and Zee Hindustan revealed that Kapil had charged a staggering amount of Rs. 25-26 crore per episodes, yet to be aired. In contrast, the same report stated that Sunil Grover's fee for The Great Indian Kapil Show is Rs. 50 lakh per episode.

Other cast members also command significant fees. Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda earn Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh, respectively, per episode. Rajiv Thakur's fee is Rs. 6 lakh per episode. Archana Puran Singh reportedly earns Rs. 10 lakh per episode on The Great Indian Kapil Show.
