During his years of filmography, Sunny Deol has been paired with countless heroines. However, it was his on-screen jodi with none other than Sridevi, for the 1989-film, Chaalbaaz that remains in the hearts of many even today. Previously, during his presence on the show, Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny had revealed an unheard anecdote from the shooting of this film and revealed how he decided not to spare Sridevi. He revealed that the entire crew of the film had tried to pull up an upmanship prank on him, and he suspected Sridevi was also a part of it. As a result, he warned her not to behave strangely behind his back. Narrating more on it, he had said:

“Once this happened with Sridevi where I decided to not spare her. My one eye would be on my back. Tu kya kar rahi hai, main bhi karunga. (What you are doing, I will also do) Because the film was of that genre, and that’s why it didn’t matter if you just get out of your character and do a one-upmanship.”

Sunny Deol reveals how many of his contemporaries behaved strangely with him

Following up the same revelation, Sunny Deol had gone onto reveal how just after he started out in the film industry, he came across a lot of colleagues and filmmakers who used to behave very strangely with him. He added how they got carried away in one-upmanship and as a result of insecurity would end up behaving very differently. In his words:

“Initially, when I joined the industry, it happened. I used to act but some of our colleagues – I cannot name them – behind the camera would do some strange behaviour. The director would not stop them and then I would get irritated thinking, ‘Are we here to act or to fight with one another?’. They would get carried away in one-upmanship and do things which they felt would improve the scene. So this insecurity is there in many actors. This ruins the film and I didn’t want to work with such actors.”

Sunny Deol opened up on suffering from dyslexia that hampered his reading abilities

Previously, in an interview with Bombay Times, Sunny Deol talked about suffering from dyslexia, which hampers him from being able to read the script properly. As a result, he takes time to memorise his lines, and even gets them written in Hindi for ease. Expressing how people who didn’t know of his disability earlier considered him stupid, he said:

“When I am doing a film, I don’t even have the dialogues with me. That is another thing - I am dyslexic, so I can’t read and write properly, and that has been my problem since childhood. Earlier, we didn’t know what it was, and people would think…ki yeh duffer aadmi hai. I always get my dialogues in Hindi, and I take my time to read it. I read them many times and make them my own. That is my prep for the part.”

“I spent many years living in Punjab. Until 1980, I used to stay there for around 3-4 months each year. We lived in a village, and I learned a lot of things there. I learned how to swim there. I used to jump from the bridge into the pond and float to the shore. I have fond memories of going to the fields with my uncles early in the morning on a bullock cart. All of it was very beautiful.”
