Marriage has been a dicey case in Bollywood for actresses for a long time now. While people love to celebrate Bollywood’s lavishly decked magical weddings, it also, in some cases, results in many actresses quitting stardom right at the peak of their careers. Saira Bano was one of her generation's most good-looking and talented actresses. She became a diva in significantly less time with some of her iconic films like, Padosan, Sagina, Desh Drohi, Junglee, among others. However, she gladly quit the Hindi film industry at the peak of her career when she married her dream man, Dilip Kumar, in 1966. She was barely 22 years old, and gradually after her marriage, she declined her number of films, leading to a complete hiatus.

Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor were one of the most hit jodis of their times. They worked in countless films together, like Amar Akbar Anthony, Doosra Aadmi, and Rafoo Chakkar, among others. The couple realised their love for one another through their filmography and, thereafter, tied the knot in 1980, when Neetu was 21. After her marriage, Neetu bid farewell to the film industry as she fully engrossed herself in the household duties as a doting wife and mom. However, it was quite later in 2010 when Neetu leapt back from her sabbatical and made a comeback with the film, Do Dooni Char. Thereafter, she has been a regular part of films to date.
Ram Teri Ganga Maili fame, Mandakini became an overnight sensation with her mature acting skills and drop-dead gorgeous looks. The Anglo-Indian descent actress had a short career span post her marriage to a Buddhist monk, Dr Kagyur T Rinpoche Thakur, in 1990. However, her exit from Bollywood was not sudden, as many of her films continued to release post her wedding. But with time, she completely moved away from the glamour world.
Former Miss India, Namrata Shirodkar was hailed as one of the most talented actresses of her generation, as she won hearts with films like, Pukar, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Bride And Prejudice, Mere Do Anmol Ratan and others. She had a promising career ahead when in 2005, she tied the knot with her Vaamsi co-star and Tollywood superstar, Mahesh Babu. Post-marriage, Namrata quit acting and channelled herself as an entrepreneur.
Meenakshi Seshadri was one of her generation's most demanded and sought-after actresses after she delivered magnanimous hits like Daamini, Ghayal, and Ghatak. Interestingly she was all the more appreciated for her near-perfect pairing with Sunny Deol as the leading lady in his films. While the fans were left gaping for some more of her fantastic acting, she married U.S.A-based investment banker, Harish Mysore in 1995 and, after that, emigrated to U.S., leaving her golden career behind.
Mother India fame, Nargis Dutt needs no introduction. The actress was a talented gem in the Indian film industry. Moreover, she charmed millions of fans with her ethereal beauty, making her one of the most desirable actresses. However, she ended her promising career at a glance after her marriage with talented actor, Sunil Dutt in 1958. It was the actress' willing decision to settle down with her husband and children post-marriage.

Bahu of the Kapoor clan, Babita enacted in only a handful of 19 films when she married Randhir Kapoor in 1971. Interestingly, it was not a willing decision, it was her in-laws who were strictly against Babita acting in movies. Sadly, within a few years of the birth of her daughters, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, Babita got separated from Randhir.
