Actress and theatre artist, Supriya Pathak is one of the most well-known names in the Hindi film industry. Daughter of veteran actress, Dina Pathak and Baldev Pathak, Supriya began her acting career under a play directed by her mother. She made her Hindi film debut with Shyam Benegal’s film, Kalyug in 1981. Since then, there was no looking back for Supriya.
Although she starred in some path-breaking films like Bazaar, Masoom, Mirch Masala, Wake Up Sid, Sarkar and many more. However, Supriya gained widespread recognition for portraying the role of ‘Hansa Parekh’ in the television show, Khichdi. To this date, people call her by her screen name, and she still cherishes the love she receives.

Do you know that Supriya once acted opposite Hollywood heartthrob, Hugh Grant? Yes, the versatile actress had a brief tryst in a 1988 French film, The Bengali Night, in which she starred opposite Hugh Grant. In a throwback interview with DNA, Supriya talked about starring opposite one of the most popular actor, Hugh Grant and revealed her daughter’s reaction to the same. Talking about the same, Supriya stated:
“My daughter gets very excited about the fact that I once starred opposite Hugh Grant, but I have to keep reminding her, he wasn’t ‘the’ Hugh Grant in 1988. He was just as charming even back then.”
Supriya is married to actor, Pankaj Kapur. She met Pankaj Kapur during the shooting of their unreleased film, Agla Mausam. When Pankaj and Supriya met, the two were recovering from their respective failed marriages. It was their love for cinema and theatre that brought them close. After two years of courtship, Supriya and Pankaj began their forever journey in 1988. She had become a mother to Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem's son, Shahid Kapoor. Supriya and Pankaj welcomed their kids, Sanah Kapur in 1990 and Ruhaan Kapur in 1994.

Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur’s daughter, Sanah Kapur got married to her childhood friend, Mayank Pahwa, son of actors, Seema and Manoj Pahwa on March 2, 2022. The wedding was an intimate affair amid the presence of their close friends and family in Mahabaleshwar. Actor, Shahid Kapoor along with his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor and their kids, Misha and Zain also attended all the wedding festivities.
There is no doubt that Supriya is one of the greatest actresses in the Hindi cinema, however, not many people knew her tryst with Hugh Grant!
