Surbhi, to start with, was never on the plump side. She has flaunted a slimmer figure in various series like Tarak Mehta ka Oolath Chashma and Qubool Hai. It was the maker of the show, Ishqbaaz, Gul, who wanted Surbhi to put on a few kgs.

"After Qubool Hai I wanted to focus on lead roles and if you want to play the lead you have to look thin because only thin girls can get to play leads. So, I hit the gym and lost a lot of weight. But when Gul offered me Ishqbaaz, she wanted me to 'eat' because she preferred her actress to be pleasantly plump. However, that did not work. So, I again went on a weight-losing spree because this was my big-ticket show and I didn't want to lose it."

To get back in shape, Surbhi followed a healthy combination of diet and workout. She has everything planned for her according to her preferences.

Her workout

We all know that physical activity is must if your goal is a healthy weight loss. This is where most of us lose hopes. We have all nurtured the idea that one has to spend hours in the gym and spend our entire day on the treadmill if we want to lose some pounds. This is far from the truth. All you need is some rigorous activity for about 45 minutes to 1 hour and you are good to go.

Surbhi dreads the idea of going to the gym. She enjoys dancing and that is why she embraced Zumba as her fitness partner. The actress shared:

"I hate working out. The only kind of workout that I enjoy is dance. Zumba is a dance form that I totally enjoy."

Zumba is a dance-based exercise, which is gaining a lot of popularity. You can burn up to 350 calories in an hour. All you have to do is to shake your leg on the most upbeat songs and that is it! Surbhi, too, danced her way to a slimmer figure.

Her diet

It is only with the combination of workout and a healthy diet that you can lose weight in a healthy way. To starve your body brings more negative results than positive. According to Surbhi, the trick is to eat right and eat on time.

The actress gushed:

"I eat everything timely and I think that it matters a lot. When you eat your breakfast on time, your lunch on time and everything on time, it shows on your body."

She prefers light breakfast, which usually consists of egg whites, poha or upma. She eats her lunch around 1 p.m., which has a chapatti and a bowl of red rice. For dinner, she never goes overboard. She eats soups, salad or grilled chicken breast.
