Suresh Oberoi recalls the tough trials he went through in order to launch his son, Vivek Oberoi into films.
Vivek Oberoi is one of the most talented and versatile performers in Bollywood. The handsome actor has wooed generations of audience with his swoon-worthy portrayals, be it the next-door lover boy or the hard hearted goon. Son of eminent veteran actor, Suresh Oberoi, it was in 2002 when Vivek made his debut with the film, Company. Thereafter, he starred in a number of films, such as Saathiya, Yuva, Omkara, Masti, Kyun! The proud fatherremarked how he groomed his son right from the beginning. Calling it a second struggle for him, Suresh remembered the times when he used to tirelessly wait at the offices of several producers with Vivek’s pictures in his hand, so that the latter could land his first film. The veteran actor said:
“I groomed him since his childhood. I made him do stage shows, got him to do (acting) classes and course with my senior from FTII. For Vivek, I would struggle. I would sit outside offices with his photos in my hand. Ram Gopal Varma’s office and all these other offices. It was a second struggle for me. Then, ultimately, Ramu (Ram Gopal Varma) gave him his first film.”
