“I never thought I’d be in the film industry; I never wanted to face the camera and never dreamt of becoming an actor. I came into the industry for the Rs. 25,000 to give back to my mom and say, ‘Your loan is over, and you don’t have to worry.’ That’s how I started my career, and that’s how I became, Suriya.”
That is how Suriya ended up doing his first film under Mani Ratnam’s production, Nerrukku Ner, which starred Vijay, in the lead role and Kausalya and Simran as the female leads.
Suriya’s mother’s loan landed the industry one of its finest actors. The actor is now all set to play a dual role in Siva’s Kanguva, starring Bobby Bobby and Disha Patani. The movie is scheduled to release pan-India on November 14, 2024.
