From her debut in 1981 in Kalyug to her impeccable comic role in Khichdi, Supriya Pathak has always charmed us with her acting skills. Apart from being a brilliant actor, she is also a superwoman in real life! For the uninitiated ones, it must be mentioned here that she is married to Pankaj Kapur, Bollywood heart-throb, Shahid Kapoor’s dad. But Shahid is not Supriya’s biological child. Young Supriya got married to the son of one of her mother’s friends, but eventually, they separated. She then went on to marry her current husband, Pankaj Kapur. Pankaj, again, was earlier married to Neelima Azeem and the couple became parents to Shahid Kapoor in 1981. Naturally, it makes Supriya Pathak Shahid Kapoor’s stepmom. And the two share an amicable bond with each other.
In a recent interview that she gave to the Indian Express, Supriya spilt her heart out about Shahid and his adorable daughter Misha. She said, “He is my son and very dear to me, and that’s the only emotion I had for him from day one. I don’t know any other way to live this relationship. I also have a lovely daughter-in-law, who is such a beautiful person and the best thing in the world is my granddaughter Misha. She is the most precious gift I have got from Shahid. So it’s all very simple and beautiful between us.”
It’s amazing that in spite of the fact that it is not a blood relation, there is an undeniable love, affection and admiration between Supriya Pathak and Shahid Kapoor.
Supriya is sister to Lipstick Under My Burkha and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actress, Ratna Pathak Shah. Ratna is married to veteran actor, Naseeruddin Shah. Obviously, the family is full of actors. When she was asked to comment on the same, Supriya said, “We don’t consciously talk about it but being from the same profession and all of us working, the discussions usually comes to the same thing. But as a family, we have a lot of other things to talk about. We all follow a philosophy in life and that also helps us connect and spend time with each other.”
Coming back to Supriya and Shahid, the Ramleela actress doesn’t not only shower her affection to her stepson but also to his wife, Mira Rajput. On being Mira’s mother-in-law, Supriya once said, “I am very happy as a mother-in-law. I have a lovely daughter-in-law. Honestly, I don’t understand this concept of the daughter-in-law. For me, she is my daughter as well as her own mother’s daughter. She is a wonderful girl so, I really enjoy being with her.”
Shahid Kapoor got married to Mira Rajput on July 07, 2015. A year later, on August 26, 2016, the couple gave birth to Misha Kapoor.
On the professional front, Shahid will next be seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Supriya will be seen in Khichdi as the show is all set to make a comeback.
