On April 19, 2019, Surveen Chawla and Akshay Thakker were blessed with a little angel and in her first interview post-delivery, Surveen spoke about embracing motherhood and her newborn Eva.
In India, marriages have a lot to do with everyone else and very little to do with the couple. And when celebrities are concerned, the level of craziness goes altogether to another level as they are constantly under the media scrutiny. This is why celeb couples these days, are preferring to keep their relationship and marriage under the wraps and announce the same only when the time is right. Surveen Chawla is one such actress from the Tinseltown, who had managed to keep her marriage a secret for a whopping two years! Sacred Games star, Surveen Chawla got hitched to her beau, Akshay Thakker in 2015 and in 2018, she had announced the same on her social media handle. The reason for sharing her wedding news 2 years later was because she wanted to prove to the world that marriage doesn’t bring an end to your career, but in some cases, it proves as a stepping stone to forge ahead. In 2018, Surveen and Akshay’s marital life moved a step ahead when she conceived for the first time and in 2019, the lovebirds welcomed a little angel in their family.
Announcing the piece of wonderful news with her fans, Surveen Chawla had shared a framed photograph of her with hubby Akshay Thakker, and two tiny red baby shoes kept in front of it. Along with it, she had written, “Life happens when it chooses to happen when it wants to happen. And it is happening right now in this very moment, making our blessed and beautiful world even more blessed than what it already is! Yes, there is a miracle taking place, a miracle called life! And we are growing by two little teeny-weeny feet!! @akshaythakker.”
On April 19, 2019, Surveen Chawla and Akshay Thakker were blessed with a little angel to fill into those 'tiny shoes' and the newbie mommy herself shared a glimpse of her newborn daughter. Announcing the arrival of their daughter, Surveen wrote on social media, “We now have her tiny feet to fill the tiny shoes! Blessed by her wonderful arrival in our little family! Welcoming our daughter Eva @akshaythakker.” And soon after she got discharged from the hospital, the newbie mommy Surveen, daddy Akshay and baby Eva posed for an awesome-threesome family picture, as shutterbugs clicked them.
In her first interview post-delivery, Surveen Chawla spoke about embracing motherhood, the support she received from her in-laws and their little angel Eva. When asked how has the last week been for her, Surveen stated, “It hasn’t hit me completely. I am feeling strange, thinking and feeling the way I am doing... it almost feels like... you know.... sometimes people say that a new ‘you’ will be born when you give birth, this almost feels like that. I am feeling things which were alien to me. Just feeling them is surreal, in a good way, of course. The feeling is inexplicable, and I can’t describe it in words.” (Also Read: Arjun Rampal And girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades Are Expecting Their First Baby, Announce Pregnancy)
Lauding her in-laws for being her backbone during the pregnancy phase and post it, Surveen Chawla continued, “I have a very good support system. I have my mother-in-law, that is a big blessing as I am still recovering and there is Akshay.” However, just like a newbie parent, Surveen too, is already having sleepless nights. Elaborating on the same, Surveen shared, “Not really but you feel guilty when you sleep too much, for now. Now, when I wake up in the morning and haven’t seen in her for a few hours it becomes very difficult."
When asked, “At the time when roles of a mother and a father are no more bondage to patriarchy, is Akshay a hands-on father?” Surveen Chawla replied, “Fully and completely involved. He is extremely hands on. I think that's how men should embrace fatherhood when it is not about the mother raising the child only. At every level and every way, Akshay has just been so amazing in the entire journey. He absolutely loves kids. It is actually just 50-50 per cent partnership. That’s never been a concern that I have to take care of our child only, it was never like I have to not do a certain kind of thing because I have to take care of the child. It is a partnership of equals and Akshay has been amazing.”
Explaining what her baby girl’s name, Eva means, Surveen Chawla was quoted as saying, “Not many people know that the name ‘Eva’ actually originates from Sanskrit and that it means ‘life.’ So it couldn’t be more apt for us since it is a new beginning in our life and from all our hearts, I wanted to welcome the baby in our life.” Sharing how she and Akshay both, were equally invested in naming their firstborn, the Parched star said, “Both of us. It is like, I said 50-50. We wanted to give her a name which both of us love and it was never going to be a name which one person liked and others didn’t. I don’t think there will ever be a decision taken for her which will be only by one of us, it has to be unanimous.”
When asked if she thinks the debate around paternity leaves and fathers being more inclusive in the upbringing of a child is important, Surveen Chawla asserted, “Absolutely important. It is quintessential. I think it is time men realise that it is not just the mother’s job. That you can’t substitute a father’s role while bringing up a child. They both have very very essential roles to play in their own capacity. Why should it just be a mother’s prerogative and not fathers? It is equally important, it has to be a 50-50 partnership in raising a child from day 1. Of course, you have to make adjustments. Currently, she needs me more, so I am making the adjustments, but there will be a time when I will be shooting and Akshay will take care of her. That's how it is going to be. That's not even a point of discussion.” (Also Read: Anushka Sharma Shoots Her Hubby, Virat Kohli With A Laser Tag And His Reaction Is Unmissable [VIDEO])
