Trans artist, Sushant Divgikr paid tribute to Rekha by recreating her iconic looks on Women's Day. Now, she shared the reason behind this amazing creative idea.
Sushant Divgikr, a.k.a. Rani Ko-HE-Nur, became a household name with her stint in the popular show, Bigg Boss 8. She stayed in the BB house for 49 days and carved a space in the hearts of her fans. Sushant made her Bollywood debut with Bhumi Pednekar-starrer, Thank You For Coming. There's no denying the fact that Sushant is literally breaking barriers out there by establishing her name in showbiz. However, on the special occasion of Women's Day, she paid tribute to the legendary actress, Rekha, and recreated the actress' iconic looks, which were loved by many. And now she recently opened up about what made her do the same.
Sushant Divgikr, taking to her IG handle, dropped a series of photos, wherein she recreated Rekha's look from her movies like Umrao Jaan, Silsila, and Khoon Bhari Maang. In an interview with Zoom, Sushant added that Rekha had been an inspiration for her throughout her entire journey. Sushant also stated that the veteran actress, Rekha provides her fandom with a blend of divine and dark feminine energies, and this amalgamation in the actress makes her stand out from the crowd. Sushant added:
"I believe she exudes so much divine feminine energy and sometimes gives you the dark feminine energy making her an amalgamation of so many feminine energies in one person.”

Going further in the interview, Sushant walked down memory lane and recalled the first time she met Rekha was at the tender age of 3 or 4. Sharing a detailed description about the same, Sushant added how Rekha looked beautiful in a white salwar and starched dupatta. The actor-singer, Sushant, further mentioned that when she was nine years old, she had already watched Rekha's movie, Khoon Bhari Maang. The Thank You For Coming actor also shared that she screamed at the top of her lungs after she won a singing competition and won the award that too from Rekha's hands. Sushant added that her childhood memories and affection for Rekha made her recreate the latter's iconic look on Women's day. She remarked:
"Many years later, when I was about nine years old, I had already watched Khoon Bhari Maang and had loved her character in the film. I had participated in a singing competition and screamed when she gave me that award. I wish I had a picture of it, she in fact cited that memory later."

In the same interview, Sushant added the main reason why she had to choose Rekha and recreate her look. The actor-singer mentioned that Rekha is the ultimate 'Queen' when it comes to giving iconic looks as well as characters on the silver screens. Sushant mentioned that she resonated with the legendary actress on so many levels, which is one of the reasons why she paid tribute to her. Sushant mentioned that Rekha is known for her challenging roles and, over the years, has proved that the movie sometimes doesn't even need a male lead, and it can still be a blockbuster. The actor-singer stated that Rekha played both the roles of the antagonist and protagonist in the movies, making everyone believe that a woman can actually be enough to do all these. Sushant said:
"She is known for challenging the status quo, making everyone understand that not every film needs a male lead to drive and make it a blockbuster. There are so many films that she has done where she's actually the protagonist and also the antagonist herself, reminding us that a woman can be enough to do it all.”
