Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput met on the sets of Pavitra Rishta, where love blossomed between the two and then they dated for more than six years. While their fans were expecting wedding bells to ring in for their favourite couple in 2016, fate had something else in store for them. Just like their dating news, the buzz of Sushant and Ankita’s break-up too spread like wildfire in the industry and the fans were heartbroken seeing Manav-Archana (on-screen names) drift apart in real-life. Sushant and Ankita have been on their professional high lately, and while the former has already done a few Bollywood films, the latter is all geared up for her debut film. Recently, the first look of her debut film, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi was released and the casting director Mukesh Chhabra shared the same on his Instagram handle.
Mukesh captioned it, "Here is the official look of actress Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkari Bai in her debut film - 'Manikarnik'a. A woman soldier in Rani Laxmibai's army, Jhalkari Bai eventually rose to the position of an advisor to the Queen." For his former girlfriend, Sushant commented, "It looks absolutely great Ankita. I am extremely happy to see this. May God bless you with lots of success and happiness." Ankita replied, "Thank you Sushant. I wish you the same."
On December 16, 2018, Star Screen Awards 2018 took place at BKC in Mumbai, wherein Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput graced the red carpet in their stylish best. While Sushant carried a simple black kurta with style, Ankita flaunted a shiny black dress.
When asked about his comment on Ankita Lokhande’s first look from her debut film, Sushant Singh Rajput wrote, "Mujhe kaafi accha laga, jo dil se aaya, bada hi accha laga toh congratulations bolna chahta tha.” When asked Sushant whether he congratulated Ankita personally, he replied, “Main jiss tarike se digital platform pe hota hoon, vo real hi hota hoon. Maine jo wahan keh diya vo movie ke liye nahi tha but unke liye bhi tha and unnko bhi accha laga. Vo real hi talk tha uske baad dusre conversation ki zaroorat nahi thi.” (Also Read: Parineeti Chopra Talks About Her Wedding Rumours With Charit Desai For The First Time)
When the reporter tried to ask if there’s anything else we can expect budding in their relationship, Sushant intervened and said, “Nahi aur kuch samjhne ki zaroorat nahi hai.” On the other hand, when Ankita arrived at the red carpet and was asked about the same, she bluntly refused to talk about the same and stated, “No comments.” Here’s the video:
In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput talked about his break-up with Ankita Lokhande and stated, “It is very important to give time to a relationship. It can sustain if there are no expectations. When you are in love you care about your partner and wish for good memories with him or her. Therefore time is like an investment in any relationship." He further added, “We run after a psychological security which will never last long. Most of the actors only want to speak about themselves and have become self-obsessed. They want to be heard only. Today, people no longer have listening power.” Confirming the buzz about their break-up, Sushant had tweeted back then, "Neither she was alcoholic, nor I am a womaniser. People do grow apart and that's unfortunate." In an interview, when Ankita was asked if she would be okay being friends with Sushant, she had retorted, “I am okay being friends with an ex. You don’t become enemies. Everybody has their own journey and they leave when the time is over. Maybe, they are only meant to be with you for that particular time.” In an interview with DNA, Ankita candidly spoke about her break-up with Sushant and why she took so long to make a comeback on-screen. Ankita was quoted as saying, “Back then, I was trying to be a homemaker and doing a very big job. When I was working, I was satisfied; when I wasn’t, I was still happy. I’m okay with whatever I do. Aisa kabhi nahin tha ki mujhe yeh chahiye ya woh chahiye. I decided to take a break because I was happy with that then. It was not just for myself. I guess, the Universe wanted me to get back professionally, which is why I’m here now. I won’t say the break-up affected my profession, though. Love and work are two separate things. You need to balance them and I’ll say I wasn’t able to do that.” And how her break-up with Sushant helped her to love herself, Ankita continued, "Of course, there is! (referring to the scope of new relationships in her life). I’m still waiting for my prince charming (laughs). But I’m not consciously looking for a man. I’m done with that! I don’t need a man to reach somewhere in life. I’d rather have awards.” (Also Read: Neha Kakkar Breaks Down On The Sets Of Indian Idol 10, Amidst Her Break-Up News With Himansh Kohli) Well, it did look like Sushant and Ankita are back on cordial terms, but this video tells a different tale from her side!
