Swara Bhasker grabbed headlines with her tongue-in-cheek remark at trolls who judged her 'conservative' wardrobe choice.
Bollywood actress, Swara Bhasker is a tough nut to crack when it comes to criticisms and roasts directed at her. She is quite active on her social media and updates her followers on small and big events from her life. One such post from last week garnered extra attention for her clothing choices where she posed with Maulana Sajjad Nomani. The actress, who married politician Faham Ahmad last year, grabbed headlines with her witty comeback at trolls who judged her ‘conservative’ wardrobe choice with a tongue-in-cheek remark.
It all started when Swara Bhasker posted a photo with Muslim cleric, Maulana Sajjad Nomani, and her husband, Fahad. In the picture, Swara was seen in a simple attire complete with a light peach Salwar-Kurta and a dupatta covering her head. With Maulana in the middle, Fahad was standing on the other side dressed in a solid white kurta-pyjama set.
Swara’s post went viral in no time, with people pointing out how much the actress had changed since her pre-marital days when she used to dress much differently and spoke her mind in social and political matters. It didn’t take long for people to point out that Swara’s lifestyle had taken a detour after her marriage to Fahad Ahmad. Besides, Maulana Sajjad Nomani was previously criticised for his controversial remark on female clothing.
A particular picture that grabbed significant attention was a juxtaposition of Swara in a glam shot, whereas the other was the photo from Swara’s post. The pictures were accompanied by a ‘before-after’ caption. This suggested that Swara had adopted a more 'conservative' style after marrying the politician.
On November 21, 2024, Swara Bhasker took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to hit back at the trolling and memes that have been circulating on social media after her post last week. She sarcastically highlighted that she was not aware of the ‘bizarre’ thoughts that could add to the topic of a national cyber debate. Her post can be read as:
“I didn’t realise my wardrobe choices post marriage are a national cyber debate (bizarre!)... Here are more pics of me post marriage to give Sanghi vermin more fodder for their dung I'm sorry @FahadZirarAhmad doesn’t fit your stereotype of a conservative Muslim husband. Lol!”
In her X post, Swara also attached some photos where she posed with her husband, Fahad, in Western and casual clothing. In one photo, the actress dolled up in a black ensemble comprising a heavily embroidered strapless corset top with a sweetheart neckline and a skirt. Fahad posed with her in a black kurta pyjama set contrasted by a colourful striped sleeveless jacket over it.
The next click was taken from a shoot from when Swara was pregnant with her baby. The couple posed together on a tree trunk, where Swara was dolled up in a flowy gown and her hubby was dressed in a shirt and trousers. The last photo in Swara’s X post was from indoors where she posed in a yellow saree holding her baby girl closely.
With these images, Swara bit back at trollers for unnecessarily dragging her husband and his religion, although he hasn’t ever forced her or expected her to dress a certain way just because she married a Muslim.
Swara Bhasker tied the knot with NCP leader, Fahad Ahmad in February 2023. They welcomed their baby girl, Rabiya, later that year. The actress was last seen in Jahaan Chaar Yaar and Mimansa in 2022. She's currently working on Mrs Falani, but we are yet to receive details about its release date.
