In a recent interview, actress, Swastika Mukherjee talked about her funny encounter with Aishwarya Rai and revealed why did she check the jeans size of the former Miss World.
Actress, Swastika Mukherjee, popular for her roles in Paatal Lok, Qala and a few other films, is known for picking up challenging roles, where she can prove her versatility. The beautiful Bengali actress is all set to grace the screen with the upcoming Bengali series, Nikhoj. In the latest interview, Swastika got candid about her encounter with Aishwarya Rai during one of their films.
For the unversed, Swastika Mukherjee worked with Aishwarya Rai in the 2003 film, Chokher Bali, directed by Rituparno Ghosh. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Swastika talked about her experience while working in Chokher Bali and said:
“Yes, I wore such nice clothes and decked up in jewellery. It was my second trip to Benaras and we stayed in a 5-star. Nowadays with so much of a budget crunch, actors just go and shoot for their number of days and come back. 23 years back, we used to go and stay there for a longer period of time. I saw the process of Rituparno Ghosh’s work; a life-changing experience.”

In the same interview, the actress went on to recall a funny incident, where she went to Aishwarya Rai and checked the size of her jeans. Sharing the reason behind the same, Swastika stated:
“I remember I had gone (to her) and checked her jeans. To see the size of her jeans because I couldn’t believe you can actually be that thin and wear adult clothes. I realised my waist was just 2 inches bigger than hers. I was like ‘It’s fine. I can reach there. It was my goal to have a waist like that. It’s interesting how you can find motivation from random spaces. I came back home and told my mom that my waist needs to be 26 inches. I would have to do everything in my power to get it.”
Swastika began her acting career while studying in college. She made her debut with the Bengali TV serial, Devdasi. After her debut performance, she has given one after the other power-packed performances in Bengali and Hindi films and also in a few television shows. Apart from Bengali regional films, Swastika has also become a prominent name in the Hindi film industry. She made her first Hindi film debut in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, in 2015.

Swastika Mukherjee’s personal life has always been a roller coaster ride. She tied the knot with musician, Promit Sen in 1998, at the mere age of 18 years. Soon after the marriage, problems started to crop in, and Swastika accused her husband of physical assault. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Anwesha who was born in 2000. After a lot of turmoil in her marriage, Swastika parted ways with Promit, and since then, she has been single-handedly taking all the responsibilities of her daughter.
On the professional front, Swastika was last seen in the film, Qala!
