Even on my family WhatsApp group, everyone was giving us their blessings.”

In an earlier interview with Mid-Day, a clam and composed Ayushmann shared that after they found that Tahira had been diagnosed with cancer, the two decided to take it positively. He stated, “She was diagnosed on my birthday (September 14). We had to maintain a happy life state to deal with it. In fact, after we got to know about her condition, we went to see Manmarziyaan that evening. We told ourselves, ‘Okay, we’ve been diagnosed. We can’t go home and cry about it. It’s better to go for a film.’ So, we watched the film, came back and got the date for her operation. In an interview DNA, the couple shared how it all began. Tahira revealed the details of their first meeting, “We would go to the same Physics class and I had a crush on Ayushmann. I never thought we’d talk. Also, in Chandigarh, if a girl is slightly good looking, the boys keep hounding her. In most cases, it’s like harassment. But he didn’t approach me throughout the year and I was like, here’s one guy who isn’t troubling me.” On which Ayushmann quipped, “Kissi ne mujhe kabhi palatke hi nahin dekha!” To which Tahira added, “Rubbish! I got good vibes from him. Our parents were friends and they invited us to dinner. Aur inka ghar bahut zyada filmy tha. There was this huge Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham portrait of him, his mom, dad, and his brother. My friend and I wanted to know how we would fare in the exams since his dad is an astrologer. Then he came and bowled me over with a song.” Well, Tahira is definitely a source of inspiration for many cancer survivors.
