Ellen Pompeo recalls how Taylor Swift wrote a big cheque for charity without hesitation, only 20 minutes after their first interaction.
Taylor Swift is known for her contribution to philanthropic causes. From disaster relief to food banks or organisations supporting children and women, Taylor has always shown her support. Recently, 'Meredith Grey', a.k.a. Ellen Pompeo, shared another such story which showcased Taylor Swift and her generosity.
Ellen Pompeo recently made an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where they talked about a spectrum of topics, including Ellen's opportunity to work with Taylor. The actress revealed how she mentioned a charitable cause to Taylor, and she wrote her a big cheque 20 minutes into their first meeting. The Grey's Anatomy star recalled how she and her husband, Chris Ivery were longtime supporters of Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Ellen Pompeo added that they worked with the hospital on a special program where parents who had busy schedules and had to work all day could record themselves for their babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She shared how the babies respond to the audio, which improves their outcomes. However, at the time, the programme needed some serious funding, so she asked Taylor, who, without a second thought, wrote her a cheque. She was quoted as saying:
"I asked Taylor, 'Could you write me a big old check for Children?' She had only known me for about 20 minutes, and that girl wrote me the biggest cheque without blinking an eye."
In the same conversation, Ellen Pompeo revealed that working with Taylor Swift earned her major 'cool points' with her kids. The actress humorously stated that she was still reaping the benefits of working with Taylor. Speaking about the I Can Do It With A Broken Heart singer, Ellen revealed that she was a good person and working with Taylor was extremely fun. She was quoted as saying:
"Taylor is such a good girl. I didn't know her, and she invited me to be in the video, and I thought, 'Oh, that will be fun.' And I went and did the video."
The So High School singer and 14-time Grammy winner, Taylor Swift, has on several occasions expressed her love for the medical drama, Grey's Anatomy featuring Ellen Pompeo. She also revealed that she even named her cat 'Meredith Grey' after Pompeo's character in the hit medical drama. And that's how Pompeo landed her cameo in Bad Blood. She joined a star-studded list that included Mariska Hargitay, Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and others. Taylor, in an old interview, had shared her admiration for the beloved TV series and said that having her music featured in the medical show was one of the best things that happened to her. She was quoted as saying:
"I love Grey's Anatomy because I think it's the best example of dry, sarcastic humour I've ever seen mixed with drama because in life, there's a humour and there's drama."
