The Legend of Maula Jatt, Pakistan's highest-grossing film, is the first Lollywood film to be released in India since Atif Aslam's Bol in 2011

It was back in October 2023, when the Supreme Court of India rejected a plea to ban Pakistani-origin artists from working in India. The petitioner named Faaiz Anwar Qureshi was initially slammed by the Bombay High Court, which lifted the ban on the Pakistani artists after seven years. For the uninitiated, it was back in 2016 when Pakistani artists were banned from India after the URI attacks. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) imposed an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists due to security reasons.

Since its release in Pakistan back in 2022, The Legend of Maula Jatt has taken the world cinema by storm, courtesy of breaking numerous record at the domestic box office and receiving a lot of applause for its action sequences and storyline.

When Fawad Khan's The Legend of Maula Jatt beat SS Rajamouli's RRR in the US and UK

Back in 2022, while in Pakistan, The Legend of Maula Jatt was their highest-grossing film, in India, it was SS Rajamouli's RRR. However, when both the films clashed at the US and UK box office, it was The Legend of Maula Jatt that got the better of RRR both in the US and UK. However, when we compare the lifetime collection of both movies, while RRR stands at Rs. 1300 crore, The Legend of Maula Jatt has managed to collect Rs 274.7 crore.
