1. Create a time capsule

Buy some beautiful handmade paper and write a letter to yourself. Write about your excitement and your worries, about your hopes and aspirations, and predict what the future might hold for you. Write a letter to your husband as well, and seal both of them in an envelope. Give it to your husband on your wedding night and promise to open it on your first anniversary. When you open the letter, you both will be delighted to read what you have written and will share a good laugh about predictions that didn’t come true and smile over the ones that did.

Smart tip: Include little tid-bits in your time capsule including pictures of some of the dresses you tried before deciding on 'the one’, bachelorette party pictures, your funny make up photos and so on.

2. Host a get-together with friends and fam

After marriage, between impressing your in-laws and juggling responsibilities, people tend to lose touch with their closest friends and relatives. So, host a fun get-together for them before your wedding. Order some take-out food and binge on lots of desserts. Watching at least one movie is a must! Choose one movie that all of you like. Uncork some bubbly and have an all-out fun night with your friends.

Smart tip: Don’t let tears trickle down (you would like to save those for your vidaai, or do you want a rookhi-sookhi one?); enjoy these peaceful moments with your pillars of strength, amidst your wedding madness.

5. Have a peaceful sleep (for the last time in your maiden home)

You wouldn’t want to be caught yawning in your wedding photographs, would you? So get at least 8 hours of sleep on the night before your wedding. Get rid of all the tingling anxieties, switch off your phone and doze off. Push everything out of your mind and everyone out of your room, and enter the wonderful world of dreams. Everything will be perfect if you have a smile on your face on your D-day.
