Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja spoke about what she felt about the controversy surrounding Govinda and David Dhawan.
Despite being Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja has always kept herself away from the limelight. She is known for her down-to-earth personality and has been in many ads and movies. Tina recently spoke about the much-discussed fallout of David Dhawan with her dad, Govinda, when she made her debut in the cinema world.
During an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tina addressed the long-time controversy surrounding David and Bollywood superstar, Govinda. She said that she doesn’t dwell on these issues. In her words:
"Interesting, but honestly, I felt like—why should they? Why should it be like? And to be very honest, I don’t even think about these things. I’ve never thought."
Govinda and David Dhawan were the top actor and director duo who have teamed up in 90s hit movies like Hero No 1, Coolie No 1, Raja Babu and Bade Miyaan Chhote Miyaan among many more. The duo hit a rough patch after doing their last movie, Do Not Disturb, in 2009. Reportedly the actor was upset when Govinda said he had given Dhawan the idea to make Chashme Baddoor in 2009. However, the director went ahead and took Rishi Kapoor. It was in 2015 when Govinda revealed he had distanced himself from Dhawan. In his words:
"No, I don’t want to work with David Dhawan, as he didn’t stand by me during my bad patch."
It was at a Diwali party that Govinda and David made peace with the ongoing spat. The actor had also posted a snap where he signalled a patch-up. The caption read, "80s aur 90s mein meri do biwiyaan thi. Ek Sunita aur ek David!" Govinda also quipped:
"We don’t want to rake up the past. Why mull over it? That’s not necessary. Filmy talk wasn’t a priority, but when that happened, we only spoke about the happy memories and those were plenty."
Going further in the interview, Tina said that no one took on the responsibility of giving her a break, and why should they? If they felt there was something that would be right for me, they would have done it. It’s not about that. She felt that one could not be dependent on others all the time. She learned this quality from her father and also learnt not to be a cranky kid.
Tina also spoke about the assumptions that were made about her as she came from a filmy lineage. Many wanted her to seek opportunities on her own without her family's influence and even commented that she had an "institute at home." Tina admitted being frustrated, so she decided to work with her dad on projects she liked. Tina did undergo look and screen tests despite notions being made about her.
