Queen Elizabeth II reigned over the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth nations for over seven decades, making her the longest-ruling monarch in British history. She owned some 300 pieces of jewellery, all made of rare gems and in extravagant designs. And she had a special place in her heart for some of these jewellery. Among her favourites was the 'Girls of Great Britain and Ireland' tiara.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, her favourite tiara did not see the light of the day until recently. The Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, Camilla, paid homage to the late queen by donning her favourite tiara, 'Girls of Great Britain and Ireland', to attend a special dinner at the Mansion House in London. The dinner marked the newly appointed monarch’s first official visit as the king to the City of London.
Queen Camilla opted for a black gown with silver vine-like detailing and carried a silver clutch. But the star of her OOTN was her invaluable jewellery. Queen Camilla also donned two other special pieces belonging to her late mother-in-law, the South African Diamond necklace and bracelet, along with the gigantic diamond tiara.

According to the Royal Collection Trust, in 1893, a group of young women raised funds for a diadem as a wedding present from the 'Girls of Great Britain and Ireland' to the Duchess of York, later known as Queen Mary. The stunning tiara was then gifted by Queen Mary to her granddaughter, Princess Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II), on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947.
This exquisite piece of jewellery has been one of the most frequently worn tiaras by Queen Elizabeth, appearing in several official photographs and even on currency in the UK and Commonwealth countries. Whereas the necklace which was presented to her by Prime Minister Smuts in South Africa in 1947 to celebrate her 21st birthday. The late Queen later shortened it, and the remaining diamonds were used to create a matching bracelet.
Given the magnificence and significance of the tiara and the necklace set, one can only imagine the price of such extravagant jewellery. Although a specific amount for these pieces cannot be found, some estimations claim that the tiara must cost around USD 500,000, and the necklace and bracelet could cost millions. People loved these jewellery pieces on their favourite monarch, the late Queen Elizabeth II, and were kind of against someone else wearing them.
