1) Do not ask for cash

Though this is the most irrelevant protocol in Indian context as here the marriage proposals are stated in monetary terms, still it is considered a bad manner to directly ask for cash from the bride’s side.

2) Do not publicize the registry amount involved

The amount of registry should be kept discreet. It should not become a matter of gossip amongst the friends and relatives.

3) Treat your bridesmaid and groomsmen well

These are the people chosen to relieve you of some of the anxieties of the Big day. Do not treat them as your personal attendants.

4) No last minute venue change

Make sure you do not have any last moment wedding venue changes because then there will be a lot of confusion. You may blissfully forget to inform your aunt in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk of the change in venue and poor aunt may turn up on the designated day at someone else’s wedding.

5) Do not keep your guests waiting for hours

Indians have a habit of delaying everything but don’t give your guests a chance to curse you on your wedding day. Forcing them to cool their heels at the venue for hours is certainly not the thing to do.

6) Do not invite your Ex

Even if you are on very cordial terms, think hundred thousand times before inviting your Ex. Your spouse may not like it one bit and then there are chances of malicious gossip circulating amongst the guests at the presence of your Ex.

9) Refrain from carousals

Groom and his friends may be tempted to get drunk in the bar or have an overdose of the sparkling champagne. But this is considered highly indecent and may get the groom in the bad books of his in-laws.

10) Send a thank you

Send a personally written thank you notes to all the guests making an explicit mention of the gift they got for you and your bride.
