Yesteryear actress, Sonam Khan recalled how during one of her shoots, she was saved from drowning by none other than Aditya Chopra.
Yesteryear actress, Sonam Khan rose to fame with some of her iconic films like Tridev, Vishwatma, Ajooba, Vijay among others. In fact, it was her popular song, Tirchi Topi Wale from Tridev, which made her hailed as a sex symbol in the film industry. However, even after etching an impeccable position in the film industry, Sonam left it all at the peak of her career, when she got married to Rajiv Rai, who was her director for quite a few films. And now, the actress, in one of her recent interviews, recalled one of the most horrific incidents during her film career.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sonam Khan recalled one of her horrifying moments while shooting for a film with Rishi Kapoor, when she was asked to perform a stunt inside a swimming pool. Revealing how her director, Yash Chopra had asked her to give it a shot, Sonam recalled the moment when she was in a near drowning situation. However, she mentioned that it was a young Aditya Chopra back then who had saved her at the right time. In her words:
“Rishi ji and I had to jump in the shallow end of the water and I had told Yash ji that I didn’t learn swimming. When the shot happened, somehow we entered deep end of water and I started pulling Rishi ji. I thought its my last day. Suddenly I saw that someone jumped in water with their clothes on and shoes and everything. Finally I looked and it was Aditya Chopra. So everyone thought I was giving a shot and he was the only one who understood what I was going through.”

In such a competitive industry like Bollywood, it is rare to spot a true friendship between two actors. Sonam Khan, too spoke about the same and revealed how during her times, she missed out on having any real, true friends due to excessive competition prevalent among colleagues. Nevertheless, Sonam did mention the exception of having made a brief friendship with the late actress, Divya Bharti, right before the former got married and quit acting. In her words:
“I didn’t have any friend as an actress because of competition. Why would we be friends. I became friends with Divya Bharti though but by then everyone knew I was leaving. At the age of 17 I had told everyone that I am getting married and I won’t sign more films and that you have one year to wrap up everything. Divya ji obviously got to know, this is a small industry. I never had friends then and I don’t have them now.”
A few months earlier, in an interview with ETimes, Sonam mentioned the multiple offers that she has received for making a comeback in the film industry after nearly 30 years. She mentioned how at first, the multiple offers overwhelmed her, since she was all set to be back after a gap of almost three decades. Nevertheless, she also mentioned that nothing had been fixed of late and that she was still in the stage of contemplation to choose the best script.
