“It was a voluntary decision. I was engaged to somebody I knew. This is what I wanted, to lead a very normal life. I quit in advance before marriage because we did think that when there will be last day of my shoot, we will go ahead and get married. Once I re-started my career, he again said that leave it and we will go ahead with the wedding. But, then I told him that once I chose you over my career, but now I will choose my career over you."
When asked if she was married to Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon had said:
"No, there was a very elaborate engagement ceremony. With the pandit doing pooja and everything. His family had flown down from Delhi, my family came from Delhi. One of his elders had put a red dupatta on my head, and I think that was mistaken to be a wedding."

"It was only an engagement which broke up later. But excuse me, we were not married at all."

Raveena Tandon knew what Akshay Kumar was up to, still, she had defended and protected him from the linkup rumours. When the headlines were buzzing with the linkup rumours of Akshay Kumar with Rekha, during the shoot of Khiladiyon ka Khiladi in 1996, Raveena Tandon had to intervene. In an interview with Cine Blitz, Raveena had defended Akshay and had said:
“If this actress knows that we are together yet gets too close to Akshay, I will get my claws into her. But Akshay knows how to handle the situation I guess.”
In another interview with Rediff, Raveena had shared that according to her, Akshay had tolerated Rekha and he had nothing to do with her. She had shared:
“I don't think Akshay ever had anything to do with Rekha. As a matter of fact, he would run away from her. Akshay tolerated Rekha because of the film. At one point she wanted to get lunch dabbas for him from home. That's when I put my foot down. I felt it was taking things a bit too far.”

"Akshay proposes to every girl and the speed on which he is going, he will soon have to address the parents of three-fourth of girls in Mumbai as 'Mom and Dad'".
Though Akshay Kumar is a complete family man now, he was a ‘casanova’ before as he is accused of having flings with multiple actresses of his times. For Raveena, it was enough as first, Akshay was rumoured to be dating Rekha and later, he had cheated on her with her best friend, Shilpa Shetty. In an interview, Raveena Tandon had shared that loyalty meant nothing to Akshay Kumar. She had said:
“We started off as friends. We got to know each other only when we went together for a few shows in America and Canada. I think loyalty meant a lot to me, but it did not mean so much to him.
