He was one such Punjabi singer-turned-Congress leader who used to enjoy a huge fanbase, and glimpses of the same was seen at each of his stage performances.

However, on May 29, 2022, Sidhu Moose Wala had left for the heavenly abode after he was shot to death in Mansa, Punjab. This incident had occurred after the Punjab police had withdrawn protection from the 424 people, including the Punjabi singer. Reportedly, the security was withdrawn post the Bhagwant Mann government's exercise to crack down on VIP culture. After being shot, the singer-turned-politician was also rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

Son of a Sikh family

Punjabi singer, Sidhu Moose Wala was the prince of Punjab born at Moosa village in Mansa district of the state. He was born on June 11, 1993, in a Sikh family. His father was Bhola Singh and his mother, Charan Kaur is also a village head. The singer used to share a warm bond with his parents, as is found in a few of his recently released tracks, Dear Mama and Bapu.

Sidhu Moose Wala is an engineering student

Sidhu Moose Wala had studied at the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering college, Ludhiana. He had graduated in Electrical Engineering in 2016. However, his passion for singing was always with him as he had also given a stellar performance at the DAV college fest. After completing his graduation, he had gone to Canada to study visa.

Critically acclaimed Global recognition of Sidhu Moose Wala's songs

Sidhu Moose Wala's love for singing and passion for being a singer had initiated in sixth grade. The school-going boy had then learned singing from Harvinder Bittu music academy in Ludhiana. In 2018, he had released his debut album, PBX1. This album was charted on the Canadian Albums Chart. It had also won the Best Album Awards at the 2019 Brit Asia TV Music Awards. Since then, he had given one after the other hit tracks. Before this, he had got a breakthrough with his song, So High, in 2017, for which he had also won the Best Lyricist award at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards. 

In June 2019, Sidhu's single song, 47, featuring Mist and Steffon Don had also entered the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. The song had also charted on the Bew Zealand Hot 40 singles chart. The Punjabi singer was also included in the Spotify's most popular artists in Punjab, along with Maninder Buttar and Karan Aujla. Similarly, for many more of his works, the singer had etched a special place in millions of hearts.

Controversial life of Sidhu Moose Wala due to his songs

Sidhu Moose Wala was also known for often promoting various attitudes, feelings, values and behaviour of a society, or any social group, in which guns are used through his lyrical style. However, this had also hurt many religious sentiments. For instance, one of his songs, Jatti Jeonay Morh Di Bandook Wargi, released in 2019, had begun a controversy regarding the 18th-century Sikh warrior, Mai Bhago. Reportedly, the singer had accusedly shown Mai Bhago in a poor light, however, Sidhu Moose Wala had also apologised for the same. Moreover, during the Covid-19 pandemic, one of Sidhu's videos had gone viral showing him firing with an AK-47 rifle in a firing range. After this, in 2020, the then Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh had booked the Punjabi singer under Arms Act for allegedly promoting gun culture in one of his songs.

Punjabi singer turned into a Congress Leader

Sidhu Moose Wala had participated in the Punjab assembly election of 2022 as a Congress ticket holder from the Mansa district of Punjab. Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was the Punjab Congress chief during his induction, had termed the Punjabi singer as a youth icon and an international personality. However, he was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party candidate, Vijay Singla by a considerable margin of 63,323 votes. As per media reports, in Sidhu Moose Wala's latest song of April 2022, named Scapegoat, the singer had targeted the Aam Aadmi Party and its supporters and had also called the AAP supporters 'gaddar'.

Sidhu Moose Wala's demise at the early age of 28 had left a big hole in the entire entertainment industry!
