Theirs is a love story that started more than a decade ago in college when Kapil Sharma used to go to Ginni Chatrath's campus to do stand-up comedy. It was Kapil, who fell for Ginni first and then his mother fell in love with her and in his own words, she is not his better-half but she completes him. Together, Kapil and Ginni have seen a lot of ups and downs in their relationship but sailed through each one of them, making a beautiful life as husband and wife. Kapil and Ginni have knitted their own beautiful world and were blessed with an angel, Anayra Sharma and a newborn son, in their marital journey.

In a Punjabi wedding with Anand Karaj rituals followed by a Hindu marriage, Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath were pronounced husband and wife on December 12, 2018, in Jalandhar. As Kapil and Ginni were to complete one year of marital bliss in 2019, God had blessed them with the best gift of their lives. Kapil and Ginni had embraced parenthood two days before their first wedding anniversary and became proud parents to a baby girl, Anayra Sharma. Kapil and Ginni's family was completed with the arrival of their second child in February 2021.

Ginni reposted a picture on her IG stories, which was from her first post-wedding Holi celebrations with her husband, Kapil and their friends. The then-newly-bride, Ginni twinned with Kapil in white and flaunted her chooda and mangalsutra.
When Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath had completed one year of married life, he had expressed his happiness on being blessed by the best gift from God. Kapil had tweeted, "Today, on our first anniversary me and Ginni take an opportunity to thanks all of you for all the love & blessings you have showered on us and our little one. Can’t thank God enough for blessing us with the best gift of our life. Truly Grateful. #gratitude." Then on their second anniversary, Kapil apologised to his wife and had written, "Sorry baby @ginnichatrath m working on our anniversary gift dena hai to kamana b to padega #happyanniversary my love see u in the evening."

Kapil Sharma became a household name and top stand-up comedian of India with his own show, Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show. But he had also seen a low phase in his life when he overcame his addiction to alcohol. It was Ginni and his mother, who stood by him throughout and helped him rise like a phoenix. In a throwback interview with The Times of India, Kapil had revealed the moment when he realised Ginni is the one for him. He had said, "We did not have the usual dating scenario as both our families are conservative. Last year, when I was going through a low phase, she was there with me throughout. That’s when I felt that if she is with me during my low phase, then she is the one for me. I can rely on her."
Revealing that marriage is the best thing that happened to him, Kapil Sharma spoke about why it is an essential part of one's life. He was quoted as saying, "Now that I am getting married, I think it was destined. I feel marriage is an essential part in our lives as it brings stability. Then the next phase is parenthood, which is another important step in a person’s life. I have seen people change after marriage, as they want to go home to be with their wives or kids. I want to experience it all as well. Being a bachelor, having your fun is good but only for a while. Later, it becomes routine and then you look for stability. I feel marriage is the best thing to happen to me."
