Uorfi Javed shared how some 'rich celebrities' pretend that they belong to a middle-class or poor background. Netizens reacted to her statement.
Uorfi Javed started her career in showbiz in 2016 and has starred in several TV serials. After her stints in daily soaps, she also participated in Bigg Boss OTT season 1. However, at present, the actress is mostly recognised for her outlandish sartorial picks. She has received both praise and criticism for her out-of-the-box outfits. Recently, Uorfi sat for an interview with Instant Bollywood and talked about Bollywood celebrities, Cannes and much more.
While conversing, the host asked the social media sensation to list things in Bollywood that she finds weird or fake and wishes to change. Uorfi immediately answered the question by saying that when rich celebrities pretend that they had a very middle-class or poor upbringing. She further remarked that these stars would tell that they used to fly in economy, whereas people actually belonging to the middle class like hers, never saw planes. In her words:
“When celebrities, these rich celebrities pretend that they had a very middle-class or poor upbringing. It irritates me to the core. We know you are rich. ‘Hum bilkul middle class the, humne kabhi first-class fly nahi kiya, hum economy fly karte the.’ Arey humne kabhi plane nahi dekha tha yaar. Tum kaisi baatein kar rahe ho yaar. When rich celebrities act like middle class, they so want to relate to the audience ki ‘main gareeb thi’. Or even celebrities act middle class right now, ki main kharcha nahi karti, main kanjoos hun, toh kyu hi kama rahi ho, natak pasand nahi hai mujhe. Just be yourself.”

This particular excerpt from the interview was shared on the discussion platform, Reddit with the title ‘No Sara harmed here’. Soon, other Redditors penned their thoughts on Uorfi’s statement. One user said, “She is so right, it’s very irritating, and honestly, these celebs think it will make them relatable, which is absolutely wrong.” Another one wrote, “Not just Sara, every celeb ever, including Alia, Kareena, Ranveer, Parineeti, etc. Why everyone insists on cosplaying as middle class/poor, I’ll never know.” Meanwhile, a third netizen commented, “Sara is definitely not harmed here, it’s directed to Soni Razdan and Alia.”

Further in the same interview, the host played a fun segment with Uorfi, where she was asked to rate the outfits of the celebs who attended Cannes 2024. First, the actress gave ten on ten to the fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi and Bollywood actress, Preity Zinta. Next, she gave Aditi Rao Hydari’s outfit a nine out of ten. When the host showed her the picture of Bella Hadid wearing a sheer dress, Uorfi gave the supermodel an eleven, and she exclaimed, “Oh, I love it”.
Lastly, the host asked the actress to give points to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s first look for Cannes 2024. The Bollywood diva was wearing a Falguni Shane Peacock dress featuring unique golden detailing all over the dress. Uorfi was a bit hesitant at first, and then she gave her look an eight on ten. While giving points to Aishwarya’s look, Uorfi said:
“That is a trick question, yahan thoda mamla…but I think because it’s Aishwarya, everything looks good on her, I would still give it an eight.”
