Uorfi Javed slammed 'India's Got Latent' Contestants on her Instagram story after getting 'slut-shamed and abused' on the show.
Internet sensation and fashion icon, Uorfi Javed recently faced harassment from a contestant on Samay Raina’s popular YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. While Uorfi has appeared on IGL before, this time, she made headlines for standing up against derogatory remarks on the show’s set. Uorfi, known for her bold personality and unapologetic fashion choices, took to Instagram to call out contestants for their offensive behaviour.
During a recent shoot for an upcoming episode of Samay’s India’s Got Latent, degrading comments about Uorfi in the guise of a roast. While Uorfi and other guests arriving at the show are prepared to take in whatever remarks are made at them, given that the show itself is based on bashing others for fun, the roast escalated this time.
The contestant allegedly compared Uorfi to an adult star, and made inappropriate questions about her personal life, such as asking for her ‘body count’. While this was bad enough, another contestant reportedly used abusive language, further aggravating Uorfi. To make matters worse, the host, Samay Raina failed to intervene, leaving the actress feeling invalid and disrespected. Uorfi was just not having it, and decided to walk out of Samay’s show midway.
On December 28, 2024, Uorfi took to her Instagram handle and addressed the incident. Her scathing remarks were directed at those who consider themselves ‘cool’ for insulting and slut-shaming women to garner momentary laughter and some views. Uorfi’s story read:
“I think I missed the memo; nowadays people think it’s cool to abuse someone or just slut-shame someone for some views. I’m sorry, but I’m not okay with anyone abusing me, slut-shaming me for my body counts (which they don’t know but assumed it must be high). All this for what? For 2 mins of fame?”
Uorfi further went on to highlight the rude behaviour of some of the contestants, who got visibly angry when the tables were turned. Talking about the incident and how it left her feeling disgusted, Uorfi wrote:
“The guy who abused me wasn’t even joking. He got legit mad at me when I asked him why he was faking being handicapped! He just abused me on the stage in front of so many people. The next one was just trying to be cool, slut-shaming me and comparing me to Mia Khalifa, expressing his displeasure over my high body count. I was disgusted. The place I was at, everyone thought this was cool. No, it’s not. It’s not cool.”
Samay Raina reportedly remained a passive viewer throughout the incident, watching the situation unfold without any intervention or support for Uorfi. Considering the same, Uorfi’s disappointment is particularly notable given her previously close bond with Samay Raina. Earlier, during a Reddit AMA session, Uorfi referred to Samay as her ‘BFF’ and praised his humour and personality. However, his silence during the incident has raised eyebrows about the friendship, considering his tendency to let tasteless jokes slide. As of now, Samay Raina has not addressed the controversy publicly.
