Urvashi Dholakia’s twins, Sagar Dholakia and Kshitij Dholakia were assistant directors for Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 'Dream Girl'. She talks about their aspirations to become actors.
When Kangana Ranaut had addressed the elephant in the room on Koffee With Karan and had accused Karan Johar of nepotism, it had sparked debates in the industry with the divided opinions on it. While star kids are born with a silver spoon and it is believed that everything is served to them on a platter, for the outsiders, they need to start fresh in the industry, make contacts and give plenty of auditions. Nepotism can only give these star kids a major break in the industry, but to survive, talent will always hold its significance. Most of the celebrities have gone on record to say that their kids won’t get everything served on the platter and if they want to work in the industry, they will have to work hard and make a name for themselves. Komolika Basu of Kasautii Zindagii Ki, Urvashi Dholakia too, believes in the similar ideology when it comes to the debut of her twins, Sagar Dholakia and Kshitij Dholakia in Bollywood. With some iconic roles in her kitty, Urvashi has become a household name and has successfully created a niche for herself in the television industry.
Urvashi Dholakia’s twins, Sagar Dholakia and Kshitij Dholakia were assistant directors for Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl. Sagar and Kshitij have aspirations to become actors and their social media profiles are already a hit. In an interview with BollywoodLife, when Urvashi was asked to comment on her twins’ popularity on the social media, she retorted, "Don't tell them that... chane ke jhaad pe chadh jaayenge." Commenting on their preparations for Bollywood, Urvashi said, "Yes they do have aspirations to come to the field. As a mother I truly love them and wish them the best. Now let's see what happens aage chal ke (in the future); how far they go, because they have to push themselves. They have to work hard. Nothing is coming on a platter to them for sure."
For the uninitiated ones, Urvashi Dholakia had gotten married at the age of 16, only to be blessed by motherhood when she was 17. Hardly two years after her marriage, Urvashi went on to become a single mother to twins (Kshitij and Sagar) after parting ways with her husband. Currently, Urvashi is enjoying her ‘nach’ journey with Anuj Sachdeva and her family has been very supportive of the fact that she has participated on Nach Baliye 9 with her ex.
Revealing the reaction of her family, Urvashi Dholakia had stated in an interview with SpotboyE, “They were extremely happy about it. My kids and my mother have been very supportive because they know whatever decision I make, as far as career goes, it has never really backfired.” (Also Read: First Picture Of Kapil Sharma And Ginni Chatrath From Their Babymoon, Walk Arm-In-Arm Together)
In a 2016 interview with the Hindustan Times, Urvashi Dholakia had shared why she didn’t remarry or had no serious relationships post her divorce. She was quoted as saying, “People had me getting in and out of relationships. I read the reports and found them funny. I was once linked to an industrialist. I wanted to say, “Please introduce me to him.” Jokes apart, I was busy working. Being a single mom and taking care of my family took up a lot of my time. I had responsibilities and I didn’t have the time to think about my personal life. I have never hidden anything, so why would I hide a relationship? My boys and my family are my priority.”
Sharing how proud she is to be a single mother, despite it being a difficult journey, Urvashi Dholakia had stated, “Being a single mother was difficult. People tell me how I don’t look like a mother and how I haven’t aged. It’s amusing. Why will I age? I am 37. Many harp over the fact that I had my sons when I was 17. But what is the big deal? I take these comments in a positive way. I am proud of my journey, which has been a long one.”
On June 19, 2018, Urvashi Dholakia had wished her twins, Sagar Dholakia and Kshitij Dholakia on their 23rd birthday with a heartfelt video which comprised of their pictures since childhood. Her endearing caption along with it could be read as “@kshitijdholakia @_sagardholakia_ I AM BECAUSE OF YOU TWO LOVE U MY DARLINGS & HAPPY BIRTHDAY #godbless” followed by a lot of red hearts.
