The trolling, criticism, publicity, and online media coverage often impact the direction of an actor's career. However, Varun Dhawan revealed that many actors often pay media to post positive articles about themselves. He said it's easy to put out paid articles online, and everyone knows that actors pay for positive coverage. He was quoted as saying:

“If actors want positive articles to come out on them on the internet, how easy it is to do it in today's age. When one can put out fake numbers, they can put out fake articles too. Varun had once stated that media makes anyone a ‘Star’

Since his early days in the industry, Varun Dhawan has received the tag of ‘star’ due to his commercial success. In an old interview, the actor once mentioned that the term ‘star’ is misused in modern times. The Bhediya actor added that the media makes anyone a star these days.
