Sharing a major part of Italy’s rich renaissance heritage and a home to some of the best churches, palaces and hotels in Europe, Venice is among the few places that have not succumbed to the wide scale urbanization. The city’s architecture, ambience and inherent character enchant the honeymooners giving them a chance to romance in an artistic environment.

The star attraction: Gondolas

The city is famed for its waterways and the gondolas, small boats that swerve through the long canals and undoubtedly are amongst the major attractions of the city. A gondola ride with your beloved under the Saracen blue sky that serves as a canopy of ever changing hues will fill your heart with delight and you could almost feel yourself up to doing anything quixotic, like singing to her or trying to snuggle in sheer public view.

You may also try a ‘Vaporetto’ ride across ‘The Grand Canal’ which is very short, sweet and interesting.

A Rendezvous with Art

Venice has served as a muse to the likes of Dickens, Byron and Rousseau. It is what inspired Goethe’s music. So there is no doubt that the beautiful churches and palaces, once maidenly shy but now standing high and mighty with the pride of a duchess will surely appeal to your higher senses. St. Marks Square houses the best that the city has to offer: the ornamental St. Marks Church, the Doge’s Palace which serves as a reminiscent of the Gothic era and the Museo Corner which is the best museum in the city. Couple stroll around the square, arm in arm amidst a flurry of pigeons. In fact feeding pigeons perching around the square is a great recreational activity.

The splendid stay and delectable delights

Arriving in the city is not a problem as it is well connected internationally. Staying is not a problem either as the city boasts of some of the finest hotels and resorts in Europe which cater to all your needs and make your stay splendid. The hotels are well equipped with all the modern amenities and afford a rather romantic view of the city through the multiple balconies, terraces and windows.

The restaurants are multi-cuisine and cater to the palettes of all their international guests. The truly authentic Italian food comprising of crepes and cannelloni’s is mouth watering. The cafe Florian at St. Marks Square is as old as the city itself and serves amazing coffee and food.

Shop till you Drop

The city served as the centre of trade in medieval Italy so there is no reason as to why you shouldn’t give in to the temptation of buying beautiful dresses, masks, shoes, scarves, bells, hats and what not. The entire area around Mercerie and Rialto Bridge has novelty shops selling exquisite stuff.

Saying a day in Venice is enough to get acquainted with the city would be sacrilegious. Come at least for a week and if you like partying, then come around the time of Carnival or the Venice Film Festival.
