Vidya Balan Opens Up On Society's Double Standards, Reveals How She Faces It Everyday At Home

In a recent interview, Vidya Balan talked about how she faces double standards when it comes to her and her hubby, Siddharth Roy.

And Bollywood actress, Vidya Balan comes in the latter category.

Vidya Balan had made her debut in the entertainment industry with the television serial, Hum Paanch. Vidya Balan is currently one of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood, and she is well-known for speaking her heart out about everything trivial.

In a candid conversation with The Quint, Vidya Balan opened up about the double standards of the society and shared that how she faces it everyday. She revealed that her househelps never interrupt her husband, Siddharth, while he is on call, but they never mind interrupting her when she's in the same situation. Talking about the same, she shared:

"Siddharth and I were on the call at the same time. They don’t mind interrupting me but they mind interrupting Siddharth because I just think that they feel the man is working and the woman is not, doesn’t matter what I do. Somewhere I think at home, they feel it is okay now, we can ask the wife."

In an interview with the Film Companion, Vidya Balan had revealed why she doesn't work with her husband, Siddharth Roy Kapur. The Sherni actress had shared how she and her husband have gained success with a lot of hard work individually, and she doesn't want it to get diluted because someone might say that she had got whatever success because of her husband. Vidya had shared:

"I also think that I don't want anyone to reduce my achievements to saying this happened for you because of your husband because one has worked very hard to get here and as much as I love him, I don't want that to happen for either of us. It's very reductive in a lot of ways. People say na aapka toh production house hai na and I say mere pati ka hai, mera nahi hai, fark hai. They don't understand it."

For the unversed, Vidya Balan had tied the knot with the man of her dreams, Siddharth Roy Kapur on December 14, 2012. They had two weddings following both of their cultures as Siddharth is Punjabi and Vidya is a South Indian. The couple's love story had kickstarted at the backstage of the Filmfare awards when the duo had met each other for the first time. And the reports suggest that filmmaker, Karan Johar had played Cupid's role.
