Vidya Balan revealed in a recent interview that she encountered witch hunt in the industry, which came from personal issues a person was having against her.
Vidya Balan is one of the most empowering and versatile actresses of Bollywood. The diva has created a strong fanbase for herself owing to her unconventional roles in movies and for the way she has projected herself in the industry. Vidya Balan made her Hindi film debut with Parineeta in 2005 and, ever since, has worked in several blockbuster movies like The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Neeyat, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and more. The actress is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, and during a promotional interview, Vidya shared some rare insights into her life.
Witchcraft, witch hunts, black magic and more are some dark practices that bring negativity and bad luck to the person who is a subject to it. Talking about the same, Bollywood actress, Vidya Balan revealed that she once in the industry encountered 'witch hunt' when someone from the circle attacked her with it. She added that it was due to some personal vendetta someone had against her, but now she is fine and has recovered from it. Vidya Balan added:
“Yes, there was a witch hunt, if I have to be honest. It came from a personal issue that someone was having with me. But it’s okay. I am better for it today.”

Vidya Balan divulged that the 'witch hunt' episode was terrifying for her and her mother, and they used to be scared to step out of the house. Vidya explained that her mother used to be very paranoid about her making public appearances, and this would drain out her confidence. In Vidya’s words
“You had to see my mother. Every time I stepped out for an appearance, I would be at the door and she would look me from top to toe and she would ask if it was okay me going dressed like that. Suddenly, I would lose my confidence because I would see her nervous. Honestly, it was disproportionate because it was weight on my body, clothes that I wore, kisi ke baap ka kya jaata hai?”
In the same interview, Vidya Balan added that when the Page 3 culture started in India, she was continuously featured in them for all the wrong reasons. She was dragged into articles which had nothing to do with her, and it was getting difficult for her to deal with such toxicity, more so because, at that time, she was new to the industry. Vidya further added:
“The Page 3 culture had started, and I was appearing in it for all the wrong reasons. People would just mention me in articles not related to me also. That was the time when it was barely two years of being an actor and in films, and I thought I just could not deal with such toxicity. But guess what? I could!”

Vidya Balan explained that with time, one gets thick-skinned and gains the confidence to face mockery and all the difficulties of life. Today, she doesn’t care about what anyone says about her; instead, she focuses on her craft. In her words:
"Today, I do exactly what I want and wear exactly what I want and don’t care about what anyone has to say. Therefore, everyone has begun to say ‘oh wow’.”
