In a recent candid conversation, Vidya Balan disclosed how she could successfully keep her relationship with Siddharth Roy Kapur under wraps despite dating him for quite some time.
Vidya Balan is one of the most loved actresses in the film industry. From her stellar acting skills and fashion statements to confidently flaunting her shape and size, Vidya is indeed one of a kind. However, even though much is known about her professional front, we hardly know anything about her personal life. For the uninitiated, she is married to the former CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, Siddharth Roy Kapur. They tied the knot in Mumbai on December 14, 2012, after dating for a few years.
Despite dating for quite some years, Vidya Balan and her then-boyfriend, Siddharth Roy Kapur, kept their relationship under wraps. They made it official only after getting hitched to one another. Now, during the inaugural session of The Indian Express’ series Expresso, the Hum Paanch actress recalled her dating days with her husband, Siddharth. Vidya shared that since paparazzi culture was not at its peak like current times, they used to often meet in the car. Thus, their dates over long drives helped them to keep their relationship hidden. Vidya said:
“I didn’t want it coming out anywhere and the paparazzi culture had just started. I remember our first few dates were only in the car. We would keep driving around. From Bandra to Town and back. But those were heady times, very exciting and I think the fun was also there because there was a slightly clandestine quality to it, which I completely enjoyed. It was great fun.”

Further, Vidya was asked if she had ever been confused about the intentions of the men in her life before her marriage to Siddharth. To this, Vidya mentioned that sometimes she wondered if she was approached for her name and star status. However, once she met the man of her dreams, Sidharth, there was no more confusion. Elaborating on her feelings upon meeting her husband, Vidya stated:
“I am not a very social person so I wasn’t really putting myself out there. I wasn’t really meeting people but I have to admit that when I met someone for the first time, I would wonder if they are interested in me Or in ‘Vidya Balan'. But when I met Siddharth, I didn’t feel that from the word Go. I think it’s because he is also very well-accomplished and a secure man, so he was just looking at me as a prospective girlfriend. So it was easy there.”
Once, in an interview with the Humans Of Bombay, Vidya talked about her love story with Sidharth. She mentioned that it was in 2010 when she was shooting for her then-upcoming film, No One Killed Jessica, that she met Siddharth for the first time. Even though Siddharth's former producing house, UTV Motion Pictures, was producing the film, Vidya didn't know him. Neither had she interacted with Siddharth earlier than that day. Finally, when Vidya went to Mumbai to attend the Filmfare Awards, she was introduced to him. And soon after conversing politely about the film shoot, the actress recalled that Siddharth turned out to be a very good-looking, charming man.

Well, the duo's first meeting indeed made room in Vidya's heart. In the same conversation, Vidya talked about her frequent meetings with Siddharth. Then, she revealed that they ended up at Karan Johar's place, and it was amidst the party that Siddharth came forward to her. She mentioned that then they had a beautiful chat that night. Later, she learned that Karan Johar had planned the intentional meeting. Elaborating about it, Vidya shared:
"Life was bringing us together a lot at that time. We ended up at a party together at Karan's place. Karan has played Cupid in this relationship. He invited me to a party at his house and I was a bit [surprised] because I didn't really know him. I [felt] how sweet. I went to his house and I didn't really know most of the others. I was a bit shy and Siddharth walks in and because we had just watched [a] play together, we ended up having a chat. That's when probably something happened that night. Later of course, I got to know that Karan had wanted us to meet. This was an intentional invitation. And it worked."
