In an interview, Vidya Balan addressed the issue of being slammed for looking older than her co-star, Shahid Kapoor, in the romantic film, 'Kismat Konnection'.
Vidya Balan is one of the most stunning actresses of her time. The gorgeousness has not only worked in some of the leading movies of all times, but she has also opened up about many things concerning her on various occasions. Vidya is known for her straightforward answers. From flaunting her curvy body to never shying away from addressing issues related to the same, she has done everything with full confidence. On the work front, she was recently seen in the film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, co-starring Pratik Gandhi, Illeana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy, among others. The film was released in theatres on April 19, 2024.
Vidya Balan has often been fat-shamed and trolled for many reasons. Moreover, when she starred with Shahid Kapoor in their 2008 rom-com, Kismat Konnection, a section of society trolled her for looking older than him. Following this, in a candid conversation with Radio Nasha, Vidya was asked about the same. To this, the actress revealed that she is only two years older than Shahid Kapoor. Thus, no such things matter to her. Elaborating more on the same, Vidya clarified:
“Yes, some people did say that and I think it was a witch hunt honestly, for reasons that we won't get into right now. But, it's really petty of whoever did it because (it) does not matter. I am two years older than him (Shahid Kapoor) and if I looked older than him, who cares? Love can happen between people of any age without making a big deal of it.”

Further, Vidya mentioned that such conversations weren't prevalent during those times. However, as time passed, people started accepting these things more naturally. But in the same conversation, thanking the “so-called trollers”, she mentioned that she could easily decide which films to work on only after the incident. She shared:
“But I guess, that was another time when we did not have these conversations. Thanks to all those so-called trollers. (After that) I decided what kind of films I want to start doing. So thank you to all of them.”
Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan met on the sets of the movie, Kismat Konnection. Their on-screen chemistry was so intense that gossipmongers soon started believing that they were dating each other. If reports are to be believed, their alleged linkup became the talk of the town after the film's release. But the duo has remained tight-lipped about the rumours for the longest amount of time. They have neither denied nor accepted them.

Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor refrained from publicly addressing their linkup rumours for long. It was until her appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 3 with Rani Mukerji to promote their film, No One Killed Jessica, when the actress spilled the beans about her alleged relationship with Shahid. During one of the segments of the episode, Vidya was asked to address the rumours about her and Shahid’s relationship. To this, the actress immediately mentioned how much frustrating the rumours were and said:
"You know, it's been two years since the linkup. I am fed up of the name Shahid Kapoor. I want to be linked with other men. I am not saying that there was no smoke and there wasn't fire. I am saying I am not telling you who was stoking that fire."
