Fugitive businessman, Vijay Mallya's son, Sidhartha and his wife, Jasmine were caught amid the spreading wildfires in LA. Sidhartha shared a comforting update amid the chaos.
Fugitive businessman, Vijay Mallya's son, Sidhartha Mallya, and his wife, Jasmine are reportedly in Los Angeles as the Palisades Fire consumes the seaside region between Malibu and Santa Monica. As per a CNN report, the fire has spread to over 17,000 acres with no hopes of containment and has been dubbed LA's most destructive fire ever. However, as of now Sidhartha has reported that he and his wife are safe. Not only that, he also offered help to anyone else in need.
While Vijay Mallya's son, Sidhartha, and his wife, Jasmine are based in London, the couple was spending time in Los Angeles. However, tragedy struck when the Palisades Fire broke out during their stay. On a positive note, Sidhartha and Jasmine are safe, and the former took to his Instagram story to announce the same and offer help to anyone in need, penning:
"Thank you everyone who reached out. Jasmine, myself and the animals are safe. If anyone in LA needs anything, please reach out to us."
Jasmine, on her part, also dropped information about relief materials for those affected by the disaster. For the unversed, Sidhartha Mallya is the son of former businessman and politician, Vijay Mallya and his first wife, Samira Tyabjee Mallya. Sidhartha tied the knot with his longtime lover, Jasmine in June 2023. The couple had a gorgeous wedding ceremony at Vijay's luxurious Hertfordshire estate, and the guest list included the couple's close friends as well as Sidhartha's doting dad's friends from India.
Apart from Sidhartha Mallya, Priyanka Chopra and Nora Fatehi were also impacted by the blazing fire. PeeCee took to her Instagram story on January 8, 2025, to share a glimpse of the raging fire, penning:
"My thoughts are with everyone affected. Hope we are all able to be safe tonight".
Priyanka also posted a follow-up story that included a harrowing video of the Palisades Fire. The clip revealed that the disaster had destroyed several homes and scorched thousands of acres of land. Nora Fatehi also took to her Instagram story to narrate how she and her team were ordered to evacuate immediately as the crisis continued to escalate. Her note read:
"I am in LA and the wildfires are crazy. I have never seen anything like that. This is insane, we just got an evacuation order five minutes ago. So I quickly packed all my stuff and I am evacuating out of here. I am gonna go near the airport and chill there because I have a flight today and I really hope I can catch it."
Los Angeles County has been consumed by five raging wildfires, which have left nearly 10,000 homes, among other structures, in ruins. Since the fires started burning, the skies have been buzzing with aircraft as they tried to get the flames under control with retardant and water.
US President Joe Biden declared the wildfires a major disaster on January 7, 2025. He further promised that on January 9th, the federal government would reimburse the totality of the recovery missions over the following 180 days. The plan is set to cover the costs of debris and hazard removal, setting up of temporary shelters, and first responder salaries. Following a meeting with the White House's senior adviser, Biden said:
"I told the governor, local officials, spare no expense to do what they need to do and contain these fires."
